Take a picture from your cell phone at your business location. Upload this image to your GMB page. Google will give use the metadata from this picture.

a previous sub-let business was listed with the same address and name as big business. the sub-let has changed they're name and I created new listing for the actual business. However the sublets established listing is dominating the actual business in google maps. One question I have, and I can find much about this online, is about Location Groups under Manage Locations. We have now two, but opening more locations, and a lot of the info we put in under (each) location(s), besides the address and such, is the same. Is creating a Location Group helpful here? This is great for any business with an actual office location. If you have a service based business where you hide your address, citations will be useless.

Not really, they still help, but you will usually be outranked by businesses with a physical address, that much is true.

NAP is a strong signal and a few instances I had customers showing up at my client's home when we had to use client's home address to complete their profiles to get citations. Hey Joe, just doing this stuff doesn't guarantee you ranking #1. It will help you, but at the end of the day its a competition between you and everyone else... so you have to outdo them to outrank them. Some things you can change, but some you can't (like your physical location) so you just gotta do the best you can with what you can work with. Cheers!

Hey Wes. I love your style & your insights. Well done! You invite us to make suggestions. I have one: GMB setup provides the option for Messaging Auto Reply. I believe strongly that this should not be turned on. A better option is to just turn on Messaging but with no auto reply. I suspect most customers would be like me. Rather that recieve an immediate auto reply that does not answer my question or request, I much prefer to receive a reply that answers my question or request, even if I have to wait 5 minutes to get it. And yes. Speed is of the essence. I do not think 5 mins is a stretch in a small business like mine. I say no to vanilla empty messaging. Chris (I lived in Chicago 2001 to 2005 - loved it!)

Hey Gautam, its pretty much the same process for any business type. I suspect that with restaurants, Google places an even higher value on searcher proximity. Meaning you're very likely to show up to ppl nearby, and less likely to searchers farther from you.

I understand that it makes you more relevant and legit as a business, but does geotagging recognize your business photos from wherever they may be on the web and points/associates tagged photos to your specific business & location? Basically saying, "Hey everybody, it's that company! you should go there and spend money!", Or is it just pointing them to your business and Google is basically looking at the tagged pictures and saying "hey everybody, it's that company! Hey Keegan, excellent question, and the answer is usually yes. Proximity is one of the biggest factors, but if you can build up your other elements enough to compensate, you CAN beat competitors who might be closer to searchers.
