How to re-cable v-brakes

This tutorial from Pub Bikes Repair Your Bike series explains how to re-cable v-brakes on your bike. This is demonstrated on a mountain bike with a v-brake setup.

Finally someone who does the rear cable the proper way..im tellin ya when you search for this all you see is the front cable because its faster and easier!Fed up now i watched like 15 diff vids and all about the fking front cable!THIS is how you replace a rear one.Thank for that.

Hello superb video. Can you make a video on how to adjust the spring tensions on V brakes. I am unable to put them through and the brake pads are sticking to the rims now.

Take the v brakes off the frame and take the cover off. Make sure the spring is in the right place inside so when you turn the screw it hits on the end of the spring. Then put in the middle hole on the frame. If one side is rubbing you have to turn the mini screw clockwise to push the pads away from rim and anti clockwise to push towards . If one side still isn't moving then check the spring inside like I mentioned and also check the arms of the v brake are equally away from the centre. If not u may need to experiment with extra washers on one side. Also check your brake levers and barrel adjusters are working correctly.

You failed to mention that in order to remove the cable from the lever that you must firstly loosen the cable all the way from the pad anchor and also cut the old end cap off to remove it completely.
