Thank you, I misunderstood that it required a MANUAL rotation, having a remote control in my hand, I thought it wanted me to fly it in the required rotation. Thanks for clearing that up, it worked like a charm and took my maiden flight today thanks to your video.

When you pointed to the nose you pointed to the tail, no? I thought the nose was the wider part of the colored portion.
@britishdroneservices93556 жыл бұрын
I always thought the nose is the front which is the camera end , infact DJI says that the sd card (which is the end he pointed too) is in the rear of the drone
@RemedyTalon6 жыл бұрын
@@britishdroneservices9355 yes, the nose is the camera side, he simply goofed.

Hello. Can some one tell me how to solve the problem of recalibrating the compass and once it is completed the software then automatically goes back to the 2step pop up screen asking you to do it again. It does this 90% of the time now to me and I am in a desert in peru. Phone on airplane, i walk away from bag controller and all to calibrate but just cant use my drone when i want anymore. Im tired of failures in my travels wanting to capture beautiful landscapes. Thank you for your help.

@SurvivingTheApocalypse6 жыл бұрын
Thats not what the app tell you to do. You hold the drone flat in the palm of your hand, you turn it 360. You then tilt and hold the drone on its SIDE and turn it 360, you do not point it nose down. The calibration process shows you pictures as you do it. I have always done it this way and my Air flies perfectly.
@lioneldupreez14763 жыл бұрын
mine says the same, butit does NOT recalibrate when in Rural areas where mobile phone signal is bad. I usually have to try multiple times and end up with low battery and loads of frustration. in this video, the nose is where the camera is and it is pointing UP.

When you're demonstrating the 2nd stage of the compass calibration , you say "Point the nose of the drone at the ground", but you hold the copter with its camera pointing up. Is the nose of the drone really on its rear side?
@brandonbilodeau89975 жыл бұрын
I would have thought the nose would be the camera side as well..
@marcellomattos4 жыл бұрын
Nope, I do it as shown in the step-by-step instructions in the app and the nose/front (camera side) should be pointing down, it works every time.

Sorry, you had a question and I misunderstood you. The guy in the video pointed the wrong side. The nose/front is where the camera is.

Good video. However it doesn't work lately. After most recent firmware update for my P3P - after getting the 'magnetic interference' warning, even where I've flown before without that message - and after the recalibrate promt, and I do the usual spinning in 2 axis, it say's calibration failed. retry? But it won't take it. Driving me crazy. Anyone know a fix? Thanks
@bencortez055 жыл бұрын
Geoff Warren mine doing the same thing, any fix yet?
@geoffwarren42075 жыл бұрын
@@bencortez05 - Hi. Good question, and good news, the "fix" was - as it turned out - just needed a new compass, which costs about $10 bucks. Wish I knew that, as I screwed around inside the RC unit and ended up pulling a ribbon cable, ended up costing $400 in repairs. If you get a repeated message of "compass error" you may just simply need a new compass, as the compass you have on your P3P may have been damaged by being too close to magnets, or a lot of metal. hope this helps. Cheers, Geoff

Every time I want to fly again, I have to re-calibrate the compass...very annoying:(
@BruceCorson4 жыл бұрын
@TravelTom, same with me. I had thought that it's just something I had to do. Now, thought, I just bought a Mavic Air 2...and it didn't even ask me to calibrate the very first time I flew it! I did it anyway, just because I was nervous, but I've flown it several times now with no calibration needed.

I bought a DJI Mavic air recently. I have an issue in that every time I go to fly it, it asks me to re-calibrate the compass or move the drone-every time. I've tryed at home and I've tryed at a large park. Every time I have tryed to turn the drone in a 360 degree as you suggested and also tryed turning it through 360 degrees face down however it makes no difference as I continue to get the error message and am unable to fly it. Any idea's-is this normal?
@CameraJabber4 жыл бұрын
frank pinion Have you got something magnetic with you? I had a similar issue when wearing gloves with small magnets to hold the finger tips back! Perhaps an electronic car key or something? - Angela
@frankpinion49374 жыл бұрын
I bought it second hand. Was already set up. When demonstrating it he had similar issue of having to recalibrate the compass. However he didn't do it by going into advanced settings as it is recommended you do. I will do this and also calibrate the IMU as per recommended and hopefully we don't the warning coming up every time I turn it on, to calibrate the compass or move the aircraft.

It is a bit annoying every time I fly my drone and every time I change batteries, the drone prompts me to calibrate the compass whereas I am on the same exact location where I took off.
@SirBeauJangles6 жыл бұрын
Mine needs to be rotated more than one full revolution for both orientations. Roughly 5 right angles would cover it. And recently its begun to fail these calibrations repeatedly - with "Cannot Fly" red flag showing when it reverts to the GO screen. Which then sometimes (WHY???) flicks to Green and "GPS" on the green label. After which it seems to fly well enough - but this leaves a very dubious taste in my mouth that at any time the damn thing will sprout a compass error and I'll end up with a flyaway that might - or might not - be eventually recoverable-from. Neither my MavPro#1 nor my Phantom 4Adv birds do this... The firmware release (50) from a few days ago is now in place, the RC is also updated as is the GO app so it's got DJI's latest coding aboard.
