This is BRILLIANT! I am planning on adding some duct tape to my first aid kit and was looking for a good way to carry it. This should be perfect.

Great video. You have obviously worked out a lot of the details on this that will save others from having to learn from their own mistakes. Thanks a lot!

Simple and easy - I wanted to reroll some duct tape for carrying in my pack when mountain biking and googled it just to see if anyone had any tips - this is just the thing. Thanks.

Thank you for sharing. I wasn't keen on wrapping it around other gear. Even the smallest roll I could find was far too bulky. This is perfect. I'll b using it down here in Australia.

@SilenceSlayer224 it is a smaller roll, no wrapped any more tightly.. I have never had any issue un-winding (using) any of the spools I have re-rolled

I just remove the cardboard tube and press the exposed inside tape together to make it stuck together from the inside, works great for electrical tape and once the cardboard tube is removed from duct tape, it can be folded when needed. But might try re rolling like that if I need to.

awesome idea. i re rolled duct tape on a pencil by hand when i could have done it this way. i have 2 pins, 1 paper clip, ~10 feet fishing line, ~10 feet of string, ~5 feet duct tape, a sewing needle, ~2 feet electrical tape wrapped around a pencil as my backpacking emergency kit/repair kit.

At first I thought: ten and a half fucking minutes for a video about re-rolling duct tape?! WTF?! I've done it before, and I don't need no 10 minute-video telling me how to do it.... After seeing the video I'm thinking: That's a really great video man! Happy I've seen it! :-) Great stuff indeed!

@GearBuyersGuide Wouldn't the tighter roll make it harder to pull of the roll. If you pull duct tape off of a roll it comes off pretty easily. Just curious, great idea though. That would be great for camping and long canoe trips.. can't have too much duct tape.

Just as you do I also wrap a piece of it self so that I can grab on something. An extra thing to find that piece(in dark etc) is to draw an arrow to were the piece is.

I do it the same way with those cheap plastic bic pens! But I did it by hand, didn't take too long, did it while i was watching a movie. But that power drill idea is great thanks. Also can you please let me know where you got that red pocket screwdriver? I believe I have the same one SGI# blah blah on it right? Its been in the family for years and no one knows where its from I would love to buy more. Do you have any idea?

i just stuff the hole of the roll with my fire kit bag or bandanas, etc. I believe that re-rolling effects the intergity of the tape. IMHO
