This is the best explanation of several vids. My first reading attempt was a parallel bar. I hit the 'zero' past or not past the reading line right off! Good job at catching the trouble spots.

This came up in my feed. I know that I can show anyone how to read the gage in less than 5 minutes. Why was this made to be so complicated and convoluted? There's an elegance to simplicity. Reading the comments, amazed is the first word that comes to mind. Last thing, a correct reading hinges on the _feel_ of the operator. Maybe spend some time on that.

Dear Brandon, Thank you so much for the comprehensive video on both Imperial & Metric micromters. I pick this as one of the best, clear and concise educational videos I have ever seen. Love your colour coding as I do this for clarity hence avoiding ambiguity. Could you please tell me what is the software you are using? I detect a fabulous soothing southern accent... Best wishes
@bcraftmath
@bcraftmath 7 жыл бұрын
Haha... Definitely southern. I live in eastern North Carolina. The software I use for writing notes on the screen is Smart Notebook. It's an older version of the software, as the newer versions require yearly subscriptions. I got this version of Smart Notebook by purchasing the smart slate, which included the software. Though this software and the Smart Slate are discontinued, they still work quite well, minus the support that the company no longer provides.

Fantastic video. Is a Thousandths of an inch more accurate than a Hundredth of a millimeter? Which one is smaller? The reason I ask is because I am going to get a metric micrometer set and Mitutoyo offers both 0.01mm and 0.001mm Is a 0.001mm necessary?
@bcraftmath
@bcraftmath 4 жыл бұрын
0.001in. is roughly 0.0254mm., where as 0.01mm is approximately 0.0004in.
@707SonomaComa
@707SonomaComa 4 жыл бұрын
@@bcraftmath 0.01mm are finer measurements than 0.001" I guess there is no real practical or "must have" reason for a metric micrometer that measures in thousandths of a mm like Mitutoyo 103-130, the 103-138 in 0.01mm would be fine.

Can you measure with a standard micrometer and then convert to millimeters? Specs are in mm but I just have a standard set of micrometers. Thank you

Of course. Use the conversion 2.54cm. = 1in.
