A quicker way to do this is to read the conclusion, then the abstract and based on these two things you can decide whether you actually want to read the paper. After that read the tables, methods, and then the rest.

Hello Rahul, Thank you for the great video. But while you were reading the abstract, you interpreted as the authors were saying the relative risk findings reflect a causal relation between coffee drinking and pancreatic cancer. However, if you read the sentence from the start, they were merely saying "this association (RR results) should be evaluated with other data if it reflects a causal relation...". They were just saying that they found an association so causal relation should be further explored. I just found your channel and love your videos. So clearly understandable.

Hi, Could You please explain why are the results being discarded when confidence interval includes 1 ?
@oldblueday4 жыл бұрын
It depends on what the measure is. If you are looking at a ratio, one is the point of no difference, x ÷ x = 1. If you're looking at a difference, the point of no difference is 0, x - x = 0. For example, a risk ratio of 1 means there's no difference in risk between the two things you're comparing. So if the confidence interval includes 1, it's possible that there's no difference between those two things you're comparing. Since we're looking for a difference between two things, we discard that. I don't know if this explanation just made things worse or not.

I got pancreatic cancer..... From viewing this video. I'd suggest you grow a pair and learn the subject that the authors are talking about.
