The Dawn of X trades seemed like a weird idea and kinda like a cash grab when they were announced, but they are a fantastic way to read these stories. I only wish these were oversized. Also, it's a good bet the issues in the trades are placed in the reading order Hickman wants since they seem to follow the checklist provided at the end of every single issue. Love this new X-Men run.

In the UK we got a House of X etc paperback a few onths ago. I picked it up mainly because it was a cheap way to get 12 issues, and I surprised myself by loving it, after some years of not reading any X-Men titles. I've been really enjoying the Dawn of X trades; as you say it's a great way to find out what titles work for you. So far only Excalibur has been a let down, and that was the one I wanted to like the most! Another great video Omar.

Not expecting you to do an overview of it, but I picked up the new reprint of Uncanny X-Men Omnibus Vol 1. So glad to finally have it in my collection, it's been a good fifteen years since I last read these stories, and I'm so glad they seem to hold up and stand the test of time. The binding seems solid too, there's minimal gutter loss on splash pages, like in issue 100. It's also a joy to be able to read the letter pages and get an idea of how the stories were received at the time. Just thought I'd share that short bit of feedback here, on a video that seemed relevant! Bring on Vol 2 in October!

I thought it would be difficult to get invested in multiple storylines at once verses reading the collected series trades but each storyline is excellent. It is awesome that marvel is putting time and effort back into the X-men! Now we just need some marvel legends House of X figures and I can kiss my wallet goodbye.

Ah there's the JAPAN reference! I tried nearly all the series digitally to vet which I would stick with, and I for sure am just getting the Hickman penned stuff in trades atm, I was going to do the DoX trades but I didn't love everything in them enough to keep buying them. Hopefully we get some kind of OHC or omni announced for these in the next year. I'm counting on your previews Omar, to help me not to buy a bunch of these before something gets solicited!

Hi Omar. Greetings from Panamá. For the Record, in latin america, a few years ago, DC Comics México (Televisa Editorial) published a monthly Anthology of DC/Vertigo Titles, with monthly issues of selected titles, in a format of four titles per issue, but that was because single issue titles weren't selling that good as monthly super hero titles.

Is there a possibility that the possible omnibus (or multiple) will include Power of X/House of X material as the start? I only collect oversized hardcover and have been reading this new era digitally. Given the size of the ohc of powers of x, it seems it would remain relevant with omnis only collecting the dawn of x. Is that a correct chain of though? PS: huge fan of your videos. I am a doctor here in India and your videos really relieve my stress in btw the overload of work (and also through when I myself recovered from COVID-19). Thank you!

Something to note on the Dawn of X volume releases. At some point in recent months, there were 16 total volumes solicited to Amazon, presumably through Hatchette or another major distributor that gets very early layouts for ordering purposes. These ran all the way up to and included the two prelude issues for X of Swords, Children of the Atom, and the X-Men Empyre mini series (no sign of the X-Men/Fantastic Four mini). As the volumes have been re-solicited after the delays, the contents have been shuffling around a bit, and as Omar mentioned, they've changed the titles for the second run of volumes to Dawn of X: Nation Building. Based on interviews with the X-Office, Children of the Atom is out and going to be after X of Swords if it appears, but everything else has been re-solicited in singles at this point. So depending on whether the X of Swords prelude issues are in the trades or the event hardcover, it looks like this section is still going to be 15 or 16 volumes in total.

Hox/PoX captured my interest so much that I actually started going back to my LCS, which I hadn't been to in years, and after HoX/PoX I went "all-in" on X-men titles, picking up all of the Original 6 from Dawn of X. Now I have pretty much every X-men title on my pull list. I was close to cancelling my orders of Fallen Angels, then it was "put on hiatus" (or cancelled). Then the new titles started getting added to the list: Giant Sized, the limited run X-Men/Fantastic Four, Wolverine, Hellions, and I really enjoyed all these new additions over last Winter/early Spring. But as more titles spring up in the X-garden, I'm feeling the need to prune back a tad. I'll definitely pick up X-Factor, and though I enjoyed Leah Williams' work on Amazing MJ, I've dropped the Mary Jane title in favor of X-Leah. Not sure if I'll keep up on Excalibur, but will probably see through until after X of Swords.

My brother, I always make time for the kind folks that take the time to watch my videos. I LOVED it! 9.5/10 It's different from those days of the classics, but its so good. Amazon put up Hickman's Xmen for preorder. Considering Omnis are usually mapped to tell a complete story, this seems like a bad idea. They should have done like 3 Dawn of X omnis that include HOX/POX and all the key Issues up until XOS. I'm basically going to collect the DOX and some of the TP. I couldn't get to collect vol 2-6 of each series so I'm collecting the first Volumes of X-Men,Marauders,X-Force,and New Mutants. I'm a fan of X-force, X-men and New Mutants. Marauders is good, Excalibur grew on me, but Fallen Angels was not for me. At least Excalibur for Swords of X.

The most conflicting part is the reading order at the end of each individual comic differs from the reading order laid out in the volume collections. I feel like the true reading order is the order shown in the separate comics.

So the thing is, the reading order in the singles has actually changed a couple times between issues to accommodate delays and rearranged release orders for issues. At this point I'm pretty sure it's not really intended to be chronological so much as lined up as well as possible to not spoil things in weekly publication order. For example, a couple of the X-Men issues came out very late to the point that some of the early volumes just wouldn't have had an X-Men issue in them if they had gone in explicit publication order, but clearly they wanted the first 6 volumes at least to have one issue of each series in them, and so an X-Men issue got pulled in to each no matter when it was actually published. They seem to be loosening up on that from volume 7 on, so maybe they'll move things around a bit if it makes sense continuity-wise, but I think an omnibus is going to be the only place with a real chance of chronological ordering, and even that might be a little weird depending on what's included.

Looks like there's going to be a hardcover of x of swords and I'm unsure if I would be able to collect up to dawn of x vol 16 then get the hardcover then go back to volumes that the hardcover doesn't cover. It seems there might be some crossover with vol 16 and x of swords. Example: Xmen 12 is in both vol 16 and x of swords but new mutants 12 is in vol 16 and in x of swords it starts with mutants 13.

I didnt want to do seperate trade paper backs but I bought x-men thinking that it was the first volume before getting house of x.....i ordered house of x but i still have xmen vol 1 for no reason because i could have just gotten dawn of x........

What is the chronological order of these x men series ? X-men, marauders, Excalibur? Then new mutants?

Conflicted by this current incarnation of the X-universe, to be honest. As a long time fan, I love seeing all the mutants acting as one with familiar names and teams back together again. But their decision to do what they are doing in the manner they are doing it in seems out of character. Maybe I can't see Hickman's endgame to this yet but hopefully there is a plausible explanation at the end of this run as to why all the mutants would so readily agree to go to this extreme. Running away never solves the problem. I'm reading it via Dawn of X tpb route since I don't buy single issues anymore and reading it one issue at a time adds a nice variety and reminds me of getting a weekly stash when I was young when comics were way cheaper.

I see what you mean, I don't like the way Vulcan is portrayed and a couple of other characters, but its so fun to read again and we know there is going to be twists later on.

From what I saw in Dawn of X vol.8 there will be Giant Size X-Men: Jean Grey and Emma Frost #1. So they are publishing it.

I’ve been buying the collected Dawn of X trades but wish they were up to where the single issues are at now which is like issue 10. I did buy the X-men vol 1 which was kinda silly considering I have the first 6 issues in the dawn of X trades lol I’m still kinda torn. Not sure how I feel reading a somewhat anthology every month and reading ONE book of one series. STILL it’s a Great read either way a very cool Story and direction for the X-men universe.

The thing with Hickman books just like the Avengers books he wrote you almost have to keep track of what’s going on in ALL his books.
