The way you use Notion is really inspiring. I've been using RemNote to collect and connect what I'm learning but it would be nice to just integrate this "knowledge database" into my Notion instead. The fewer apps I have to keep track of the better!

I am pursuing my data science degree and at the same time a working professional. I cannot stress more how important taking notes are especially when you're a working professional. The memory fade-away when you move from one topic to different topic... I am big fan of taking notes on the notebook than digitally or highlight on book... If you're taking digital notebook then you'll realize that over the period of time, you've gathered a lot of junk and become more habitual of digital device...

similar set up, notion is great. short and sweet, just enter paper name, link to it and have the option to add notes if its relvevant. feel like i have my own internet at that point with the search feature. sure i will use it for years to come, have a personal bank of knowledge (also made a clip on my channel if youre curious charlotte on the notion set up, its very small in the sense of input, can document every paper i read this way) thanks for sharing!

Thanks for this video. I am going to look into these tools. I am still a paper-copy kind of guy and it's getting unmanageable. Literally took notes on your video on the back of a printed article lol (that I haven't read yet lol). Douglas Hofstadter's writing is great. He wrote a forward to a book I have called Masters of Deception that features lots of international art, including M.C. Escher. It's basically an art showcase of what Neil deGrasse Tyson calls "brain fails". Totally totally *totally* recommend it.

Nice video, thanks for sharing! The thing is that I also enjoy reading paper books because they make me more concentrated and memorize things better, but it seems not easy to collect information from paper books into digital platforms, like notion... Do you have good advice for that, or you think it is ok to simply treat the two kinds of reading differently (which I am doing now)?

Hi...I watch your skill-based clips, which are quite inspiring. I'm a study coach and memory trainer coupled with math tuition and other skill-based courses. My question I have is regarding note-taking apps. I've been a user of Evernote since 2011 using the latest and paid version. What is your opinion between the two, Evernote and Notion. I do have Notion, the free version which is a great data-capturing app. I'm very fond of Evernote though...Not sure if you used Evernote before. If u did how would you define one from the other? Keep your youtube clips coming, I certainly learn a lot from them. Thank u.

I'm going into Computer Engineering with an emphasis on human interaction. While doing a minor in Civil Rights activism for the Latinx community. It's ALOT of info to remember. But I really love learning it still.

Forget activism & any major that ends in "Studies." Get yourself ahead in life and teach others willing to learn to do the same & you'll accomplish multiples of what so called activists do. Witness the BLM knuckleheads, Al Sharpto & his $3k suits, etc. posing & accomplishing nothing. Witness Dr. Ben Carson, poor black kid from the bad part of Detroit who saved many many lives & is a living exemplar & role model of success.

Dear all, I wish to pursue research studies, but these days I'm struggling at literature review studies. I pick up a topic, find a research paper and read about it and therein I find some new concept, and start reading about this new concept from one platform to another. Now while keep doing this I find further new terminologies Or associated concepts, and finally upon digging up this way, I find myself getting confused at the end moment. I get distracted from whatever I started reading at first. Don't know why is it again and again happening. That's why I'm unable to finish the review paper I started writing about. Any help would be appreciated

Let me say upfron that I loved your video!! I dropped out of a PhD program and among the reasons for me leaving was the faculty being unable to have empathy for the students who haven't mastered their research process. When I came to talk with the faculty about that they answered something like "I just do... I do not know what else can I show...". So right now I am applying for other programs and I have been developing my own method, especially for note taking, and you went right on the money for me when you talked about retrieving and combining information. Though, I would like to make some suggestions: Let me start by saying that I am from Brazil and English is not a language talked in the country. So not only I am not proficient, I am used to American and British accent. So not being used to your dutch accent might have compromised my judgment. 1) You mention about Notion, Instapaper and Readwise a couple of times, though in the first minutes I have difficulties to understand what they were. First I thought they were some kind of methods but only when I opened the description of your video I noticed they were actually apps. My recommendation would be in the future to take a few seconds to describe what they are before frequently mentioning them 2) I thought the video was too fast paced (again, consider my difficulties with the accent here). It felt like you did not catch a breath throughout the whole video. More than once I had to stop the video and catch a breath myself so I could process what you said and understand how your suggestions could help me. My expectations was the video to be some kind of a conversation but it felt like non stop information. Nonetheless, I want to conclude saying I loved your video!! It is the first one I read about the topic and it helped a lot!! Thank you very much!!!

I am curious why you use instapaper + readwise instead of zotero? Have you tried a tool for thought (TfT) like Obsidian, Roam, Logseq etc? The slip box you talk about seems much easier to do in a tool like that. My bias is towards Zotero and Obsidian as that is my toolkit but we all work differently so am curious to the rational behind your choices 😁
