This the second video in my series about how to read court cards in Tarot! I go through each of the four court cards of the suit of Wands in this - the fire, the intensity, the living breathing lava of creativity. ;) Yes, as someone very fiery myself, I'm connected to this suit especially, but tried to keep the info all good and structured anyways!

I like the ones in the Ostara Tarot and Fairy Lights Tarot for example. But honestly I like the court cards in most decks, though the RWS ones are a bit boring definitely. 😅

Anya, do you see all of the even court cards as a state of being and all the odd ones as an action? I've heard this before, but I'm curious as to your take on it.

Interesting thought. I think that might be a bit too limiting in my opinion, since e.g. the Page can be an action as well (taking action to learn, to explore) and the Knights could be about a state of being (for example being headstrong or being stuck in a thought-loop for the Knight of swords).

What would be the King of Wands caution? What is he missing?

No water or earth energy, so the King's ideas and plans might tend to be a little ungrounded or not take emotions and the slow flow of life into consideration.

I am curious as to why you say the Knights, or Princes, represent fire. My understanding from Kabbalistic traditions that the King represents fire, as in the spark of inspiration in which Kether, Binah, and Chokmah exist. The Atziluth, whose element is fire. I understand that the Prince is the card of action, but that makes sense for air if you think of Yetzirah, or angelic/astral world, as being a realm of movement and action over the physical realm. The astral plane is the framework upon which the earthly world is built and therefore the initiator in any changes made in the physical world. Just as fire is the action that cannot penetrate the world of water, which brings form to inspiration.

You are speaking of the Thoth deck, I believe, because that is much more based on the Kabbala, unlike the RWS deck. You were saying "The Knights, or Princes". But some people who study both decks (and they're very different, so drawing parallels is not really the best thing to do in the first place - each deck has its own logic), say that the RWS Pages are the Thoth Princesses - the Knights are the Knights - the Thoth Princes are the RWS Kings - and the Queens are the Queens. In this logic, the princes are air element in Thoth. It's a complex topic and to be honest I don't entirely know the facts myself. So what I'm trying to say is: I'm speaking of the RWS deck here, which isn't structured by the Kabbala as openly as the Thoth deck. So for the Thoth deck, I would probably employ a different logic. Thanks for making me think about this!

Page of Wands/Earth and Fire reminded of this baby in my family, in her astral chart when she was born it said she has a lot of fire and earth, therefore she gets a little doubtful where to direct her energies, towards earth, practical, horizontal, and then she feels this lacks deeper meanings or spiritual ity or creativity, and she goes for fire for a while, until she feels it lacks practicality, and goes back and forth, just like the doubtful page. And myself, I have 🌞 in ♌ and 🌙 in ♏ so I am TOTALLY like the Queen of Wands! Fire and water, and all those traits you said about her.🤭 (I'm male)
