I've been playing guitar four years. Well beyond this, but I'm so happy I can follow perfectly on my guitar. It might be a bit of a flood for beginners, but I think it's best to see what you can do, then learn, rather than to expect you're going to 'get it's from watching one video.

This is a great presentation. What about when notes are in parentheses?

Usually notes that are in parentheses are ghost notes, which I like to think about as kind of optional notes. If you want to play them, it can add to the overall melody but if you ignore them, it'll still sound fine as well. 🤗 I've also seen them used to notate when you should hold a note longer since tabs often don't have music notes that would let you know the rhythm in that way. Basically, I'd consider it a more advanced/infrequent notation you won't come across too often. 👍 I hope that helps!

is practice 5, is it a keyboard we are hearing? how would you play the last open low E and A if it were on a guitar? you can't reallyu strum just those 2 at once, or am i missing something?

That’s correct, practice 5 would be more of a fingerstyle or finger picking exercise (no pick or strumming). Your thumb would pick the A string while your pointer, middle, or ring finger could pick the high e. 👍🏼 I hope this helps, and thanks for watching! 💕

It really depends on what type of music you're trying to play. 🤔 If you're more interested in the singer/songwriter route, I'd go with chords because it'll be more applicable. 👍 But if you're more interested in playing solos and riffs, then learning to read tabs might be the easier starting point. 🎸 Both ways of playing come with their own roadblocks, so it's important to pick the style you'll be most motivated to play. 💪 Hope that helps! 🤗

Hey what does it mean when number is in brackets like this (0) or (9)

Typically those are there to show ghost notes, which are basically like optional notes that you can decide to play, or ignore. You could also play them a little quieter than the other notes to add some depth to the melody. 🤗 I didn't talk about it in this video because I believe some tabs use them to describe something else, but I usually see them as ghost notes. 👍 I hope that helps and thanks for watching! 💕
