The M with numbers is the product code number that you see a lot on the paper tags and not associated with the date code. The date code is going to be in the interior of the bag, for the Speedy on a little piece of leather sewn in the interior seam. Date codes should be two letters and four numbers. Hope that helps!

Since it is from the 90s, they used the same format but it was month & year then - they switched to week & year in the mid-late 2000s. So for that one it is MIFrance, in May of 1996. Hopefully that helps! :)

I'm not aware of a BL location, make sure it isn't an FL. It would have to be from '04 based on the numbers, but the code together to me isn't something that is familiar. I would for sure have it authenticated.

Nope, never bought an LV before it was released - that I remember anyways. I tend to like to wait to go to the store and try things on before buying things. I hate buying things sight unseen. They release things every few months and if you have a good relationship with a particular SA, ask them to see the "Look Book" the next time you are in there... it shows all of the things that are coming out for the next year. ;)

I don't think they have thicker straps... they just redid the glazing a few years ago to prevent the cracking on the edges that some bags had issues with on the straps.

I got the neverfull gm in (de) it reads SD 3102, so is it 3rd week of 2012. Then I got the kusama wallet which reads CA2192, so is that 29 week of 2012? The never full would be made in the USA and the wallet in Spain. Am I reading it right?

I forgot to tell you have you ever bought a Louis before it was released? That was the case with my new bag, I didn't even know the name or color when they printed out the receipt it said deposit and of course it was for full amount but usually it has description of bag, I had to call after April 1st to get the full description receipt sent to me... What about a date stamp that is stamped with the letters on the top followed by 3 numbers underneath .V.I. 883 I cant post the image, but the code is on the inside near the zip, stamped on a little leather tab held by a L.V brass rivet looking thing. And the top is stiched into the seem.... Hope this makes sense

Thanks for watching! :) DU is production code of country it was made (France in this case), first & third numbers = 16, second & fourth numbers = 11. So it would be from the 16th week of 2011. Hope that helps!

+BznessVideoCreations that is accurate - not all the vintage bags have serial numbers. In general, the best way to know you are buying the real deal (or obtained it through trade, etc) is to visit your local Louis Vuitton store and they can tell you :)
