the four represents stability, the base of the pyramid. Fire represents spirit, pasion, beliefs. In other words, you have achieved stability in your spirit, finding things you feel passionate about, but you may still have a long way to go, you are in the middle of a cycle and haven't found any trouble yet.

This was very simple and helpful as a way to begin reading pip style tarot. But oddly enough, 3+ years later and I don't see that you have continued to read with pip decks! What a shame. I really enjoyed your take on them. Anne

You're right Anne, I rarely read with pip decks! I think I just prefer a more detailed image that tells a story. But I'm glad you enjoyed this video :)

Awww, I love to see kitty, she is beautiful! Pip cards always leave me with a blank. I really have trouble with just a picture of 4 objects. I know wands are movement, inspiration and energy. Also four seems like a very stable number like the four corners of a house or building. So maybe it would be about doing something new and inspiring but in a controlled way. Not just jumping in but gathering the information and then putting your energy and inspiration to work.

They look like torches, portable light. Four, however, suggests permanence, security, settling down from a nomadic life, finding a home or, better yet, building it. Thanks so much for this challenge, Kate. I'll be taking it to an obscene extreme. I don’t have a pip deck, but I do have playing cards (clubs=wands, hearts=cups, spades=swords, diamonds=pentacles). I’ll draw card a minor a day and journal about it. It will be a journaling of biblical proportions (for reals as it will take 40 days and nights to get through them all). LOVE IT!!!!! You’re the best!

That's a fantastic idea! I've been meaning to try reading with a regular deck of cards for a while now but I don't have one (I know, that's weird). I can probably find a deck at the dollar store though. Let me know how the epic journalling goes :)

Nice video. Good ideas, thanks for sharing. Just one thing, before the Raider-Waite, which is the deck that catapults tarot cards to world fame, there were several decks with illustrated pips, like Viscontti Bembo tarot, and the Sola Busca Tarot from which Pamela Coleman took inspiration to make the Raider Waite. Thanks again for sharing this beautiful video!!!

That four of wands makes me envision a lit pathway, or like tiki torches around a backyard where you can enjoy a small gathering or just a family barbecue. It also reminds me of the four corners of a home.

I so agree about the mental noise! Pip decks can be very calming that way :) Also, they make the Majors and court cards stand up more! RWS actually isn't the first deck to have scenes on the Minors :) Do you know the Sola Busca tarot? It's from 15th century and has scenic Minors. Some of them were an obvious inspiration to Pamela Coleman-Smith, like 10 of Wands or 3 of Swords (but there are other similar cards, like 7 of Swords or Queen of Swords). The 4 of Fire you showed makes me think about the warmth of home. It's number 4, one of the most stable numbers and it has fire, so it's a comfy chair by the fireplace for me! :) Best, Magdalena

Mystic Megs Tarot was my first ever tarot. Almost 20 years. I haven't seen it around. I gave up on out as it was tough for a beginner. Second time around I got the Shadowscapes tarot because of your review 😀
@DailyTarotGirl8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Shadowscapes would be much easier to read with. I saw pics of the mystic meg tarot online a few years ago and it totally caught my eye. It was hard to find though - I ended up getting a used copy from Abe books because there weren't any new copies available.

The mystic meg tarot is currently in Books A Million,and is in something listed as "The tarot pack"...it comes in a very large red box with a book. Not listed as the mystic meg tarot,though,but it is her deck!

This is tough! I don't have the minors memorized so here goes. Knowing that wands is about movement, action, and energy and that even numbers are kind of an stagnancy or stability of some kind and that the numbers follow a cycle: I'd say that the recipient has begun a project or working towards a goal and this could be a confirmation of their methods. Maybe a reassurance that they're headed in the right direction and to be diligent? Or maybe the recipient isn't seeing results yet (no movement) and it may be time to reassess the methods of the project before they become too invested. I feel like I'm way off! :) I'm going to go check the meaning now, lol.
@DailyTarotGirl8 жыл бұрын
This was great! I love the bit about it being confirmation - that feels right to me. I usually think of four of wands as representing energy that is contained in some way - like a form of comfortable, toned down passion (kind of like a long term marriage)
@squirellsgopeep8 жыл бұрын
Daily Tarot Girl yes, that makes so much sense! like 4 corners on a container :) it's like completing something and celebrating it as well, I'm seeing. I like that way of making the wands a visual structure, that helps with remembering too. Thanks again for your wonderful videos; they've all been so inspirational! And I love seeing kitty appear ha it's so cozy to watch. I look forward to more!

Great video. You may explore the "pips as trumps" method, especially popularized through Way of Tarot by Alejandro Jodorowsky. A similar approach is also taken by Yoav Ben-Dov. Various articles and youtube vids are devoted to it. Tarot de Marseilles is independent in its own right and has its meaning woven into its own subtly intricate symbolism. It's illustrations are not just meaningless assortments of objects. As a hint, eg. if you lay out the suit of swords in sequence, you can see the stages of blossoming and withering of a flower. Your approach with even vs odd number pip patterns, is in line with the above approach. Scenic illustrations of concretize the meaning of cards into a 2 dimensional pattern and carry the limitations of their author's mind, which is something you too hinted: "visual noise vs stepping into an empty room".
@anarchohippypunk8 жыл бұрын
I'm still familiarizing myself with all the minors so those would be a bit harder to read just by looking, i took a look at my 4 of wands and from what else i know and can gather it's a card about celebrations. Being on the right track and having a solid foundation for the future. Mine has what looks to be an engagement or marriage in an elaborate garden. Happy times in general. One thing i've struggled with since i was introduced to tarot 17 years ago is that intuitively, for me, wands and swords are backwards. So in using traditional decks, i've struggled with the meanings of these two suits because most of the books/interpretations are at odds with how i see the cards. My favorite deck of all time is the witches tarot by ellen cannon. Those suits align with how i feel and I absolutely love the artwork on them.

That's interesting - I've heard from a couple people that feel the same way about the wands/swords thing. Good that you've found a deck that resonates with you :) Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

Thank you so much! I know that number progression in the minor arcana is very important, but it can be hard for me when it comes to determining meanings for myself as there are so many different interpretations of the same number.. 7 = inspiration, spirituality, turmoil, knowledge etc. It's been overwhelming trying to find meanings for each number that resonate with me. Any advice on finding my own meanings? Thanks! Love ur videos keep up the great work!!

Thanks for the video, I had been wondering how people even read with those non-illustrated cards. I honestly don't even bother using tarot decks that don't have illustrated minor arcana cards. I just feel ripped off when a deck doesn't include that!

I know what you mean. I used to feel that way too, but then I kind of got into it. I prefer illustrated minors though.

Hi, Kate. Four of wands: Halting place; a stage. Home coming after a succes. Celebrating. Having reached a certain stage in development (exams. Diploma). A well deserved rest after doing the best one could; one was patient and worked hard. A governor may decide to "run for office". Bye

Thank you for describing this simple approach. So often, readers get caught up in where a line starts and stops or which way the wind appears to be blowing in a card.

Dear Kate, allow me to express you thanks for the information you're providing and, express some observations. It's a bit off topic, and I'm not sure how you will see it, but it may be interesting for some people. According to the NLP visual queues (the position of the eyes), you were visually constructing all the details about specific tarot readings, since your eyes were left-up most of the time. This is confusing, since you seem like you're visually remembering what you already know and not reconstructing it! At first I thought that you may be left handed, and maybe your eye queues are reversed, but then I realized that you hold the cards most of the time with your right hand. So, I know that this is way off topic, but I am also interested to know if NLP is tried and true, or hoax. But I'm much more inclined to believe that NLP visual queues is hoax, because you're simply beautiful!
@DailyTarotGirl8 жыл бұрын
Hi Arto, Interesting! I'm not sure what you mean by "visually reconstructing" - do you mean I'm making it up? Part of this could be because I already planned what I was going to say before the video - so I'm not actually reading the card live as it comes to me. Maybe that's why? I don't know! Thanks for watching :)
@DailyTarotGirl8 жыл бұрын
okay, I just googled NLP visual cues and I know what you're asking now. In this case, it doesn't make sense because I am indeed remembering something, not fantasizing/reconstructing it.
@iamarto8 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but I know that what I was going to say wasn't going to feel good from your side because it feels like being analyzed which was not my intention. I was just curious if the NLP theory of visual queues works. And if you per-planned what you're going to say (which is a totally normal preparation), then the visual queues should be right-up (visually remembering). So it seems that the NLP visual queues theory are actually not accurate and does not fit into the uniqueness of each individual. I apologize for bringing this up in the sense that it will make you feel watched and analyzed, which is not really a great feeling, I know. But, keep the flame of the Tarot inside you going and, imagine my comment never happened :)
@DailyTarotGirl8 жыл бұрын
That's okay Arto - I kind of assume that by putting up a video of myself that it will be analyzed in one way or another. Glad you liked it though :) Cheers, Kate
