Best explanation on how to use a caliper. No intro, no fluff... Quick, precise, and to the point. in Under 5 mins!
@Rick_Bagnall7 жыл бұрын
Very good explanation! Having been a machinist for over 30 years, this is one of the clearest explanations I've come across on reading a vernier scale. This is very similar to how I teach vernier reading. Well done!
@MarkMcCluney7 жыл бұрын
Rick Bagnall agreed - clearest explanation I ever heard. I wish someone had taught me this way forty years ago when I first came across the Vernier caliper, I wouldn't be buying fiddling little batteries every couple of weeks!

As I never used one before is this as accurate as you can get,i'm not in a profession where measurements that fine are needed

I used to know how to read a vernier caliper, but I got used to reading a dial caliper and got lazy. Someone was saying they didn't know how to read a caliper, and for the life of me, I couldn't remember the procedure to show them ! If you don't use it, you loose it !!! I APPRECIATE YOUR INSTRUCTION and posting this very nice video !

Thanks so much for this video. It was a great explanation of how to use this tool. I inherited a Vernier gauge years ago following my father's death (he worked in metal working) and never understood how to use it, so this has been a valuable start in making this a useful addition to my toolbox.

Nice explanation. I have an old, dirty caliper that I bought from a junk shop and have just been using it to measure to the nearest millimetre. I wasn't even aware of the Vernier sub-millimetre functionality but now you've explained it I see my caliper has a 0.02mm scale and I will know how to read it.

Oh,..each line on the vernier is 1 and there are 2 lines per number,..and when the 3 lines line up on vernier and the top mm line measure from the 2nd of the 3 lines that match ,.then multiply by 0.05 = ,..then ad it with the whole mm that the 0 on the vernier starts in front of... Got it !! Thanks for the lesson Sir !!

Very impressive. I've wondered what the other scale was for. I would just measure it to 44.7 and a couple widths of a line more. Who would have thought. But I guess working with wood a couple widths of a line wouldn't make that much difference Christian Jensen Lubbock Texas
