Так! Ще можна сказати трішки по-іншому: "Я народився тисяча дев'ятсот шістдесят першого року". Тобто, без слова 'у', з іншим закінченням. Тобто, "Якого року?" = "У якому році?".

Обидва варіанти - правильні, вірні. Українська мова досить багата, має різні варіанти як скащати одне й те ж.

Ви абсолютно вірно сказали: "1990-го року" або "у 1990-му році". Перший варіант більш чисто притаманно український, а другий варіант - використовується в українській та російській мовах.
