In this video (part 2 of 2), let's use all the skills you learned in "How to Read Your Cervical MRI: Part I" to see how to really read an MRI using DICOM software. Specifically, I'm going to use Onis 2.5 (free software for PC) to go over my latest cervical MRI. We shall go through the T2-weighted sagittal and axial series, as well as the T1-weighted sagittal series via a split screen. I'll show you how to get the all-important cut line up and running too and show you how it works on real images.
Note: if you haven't watched "How to Read Your Cervical MRI-Part I," you are going to be completely lost unless you already know how to read MRI. So I strongly advise you go to this link to watch part I first:

Let's see if we can find anything wrong with my Cervical spine.

I understand this might be a big ask. But are you able to make a video on fusion cages in terms on non unions in the cervical spine. FYI I know it takes you a lot of time. So Thank you for all your efforts in making these.

Can I send you my disc of Adhesive Arachnoiditis and explain it to those of us who suffer so much.

Super rare disease! I be glad to take a look. There was an Internet Dr. (feds raided his clinic and shut him down) telling all sorts of people that they had arachnoiditis, yet they had no visible signs of it on MRI.

@@douglasgillarddcprofessoro5285 Dr.Tennant doesn’t just look at your MRI you fill out loads of paperwork listing your symptoms and answering tons of questions as well . He has helped people like myself with Ehlers Danlos syndrome that everyone pushes aside . He in fact told me I didn’t have AA but had spinal canal inflammation and damage to my cauda equina. After I took part in his research it helped my Drs tremendously. As for his legal issues people like myself are fast metabolizers of opioid substances this would be why we would be subscribed substantially more then the next person . With his guidance on different types natural supplements and other anti inflammatory medications by injection it’s helped with inflammation and I cut down to a minimal amount of Tramadol. Not enough Drs bother to get educated on subjects like EDS and AA. Is it that they’re rare or that no one listens?!

This seems like an outdated way to view images-most CDs given out by hospitals or clinics nowadays have an embedded viewer on the disc so there is no need to download a Dicom viewer

I don't know about you, but in my experience the DICOM viewers embedded in MRI CDs are at best mere image viewers and have massive compatibility issues. No splits, no measurements, no playing with the contrast... They might be ok for preliminary viewing, but if you want details, you're gonna have to install something like Onis. The added bonus of Onis is that you can make it run on Linux as well (I don't know about MacOS but I assume it also works).

Hello, as mentioned by cielvague, the built-in viewing software that comes with the DVD is absolutely terrible and is unusable. Some imaging centers have a Web server that they allow patients to go to and view their images. Same story: that software is horrible and almost never contains a cutline and the inability to split the screen properly. There are some rare exceptions, but if you do this professionally, you have to have a good DICOM viewer, like Onis or a Pacs system. I will not consult with a patient unless they upload the DICOM images (or mail the disk), so I can use my own software which I'm used to using.
