I've been into magic for more than 10 years, and although I know a lot of different methods to levitate an object, this is by far the best and most legitimate. Yes, there's a bit of set up beforehand, but it's worth it. You may fail a few, or tons of times at the beginning, like I did, but eventually you can master it. So far I've achieved to hold it for 3 seconds about 2cm apart each side. I'm working my way up to about 5 seconds 5cm apart each side. Thumb up, fellow magicians, so people can really learn this. Peace.

just a tip for everyone.. its all about the static on your hands, and there are more methods to achieve it, rubbing your hands against a carpet, balloons, there's the "school desk" method; just be careful not to touch metal or make contact with materials / objects that could release the energy before its used on small objects...

Is there some sort of ratio that can determine how long your hands stay charged i.e amount of rubbing/object = So many seconds/minutes of charged hands?

It makes sense. I do this trick all the time at the laundromat in the winter time. You don't need the 2 straws at all in the laundry. It only works in dry weather in the winter. I walk up to anyone taking their clothes out the drier and ask them if they want to see a trick. They ALWAYS say yes, I ask them for a dollar which they always have, and I take their clothes out the drier and throw it in the cart as fast as possible. That builds the charge, so then I palm the bill and let go super quick!

The negative causes repelling and possitive causes attraction but positive and negative is equal to stick together by charge and when positive and posive go to each other they go away so thats how it worked thanks!

It took some time mastering this, but people love it when you perform this for them. Any ideas on how to hide the charging process from your audience so people think it's really magic in stead of simple physics?

Wasn´t there a harder way to charge your hands, Rich? Cause this one is too easy, I, at any time have a limitless supply of paper-envolved straws to try the trick as many times as I need to, to master it.
