"Stay strong, take chances", you nailed it. That's what life is all about. Hey excellent tutorial. Yours is the most complete, as you describe correctly all the biomechanics involved (ankle-calves motion). I'm getting into trials, and love the experience. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. Been spending so much time in the last few months trying to do trials on my MTB finally last week just picked up Inspired 4play. Today is the first day I really have and figured first thing I've got to learn is rear wheel hop - going out to play now hoping for the best! (I come into this being well able to wheelie and sorta endo for many years and can track-stand any bike for usually a long time- the rest looks impossible or magic...)

Nice Tutorial! Unlike in a bunnyhop or manual, you shouldn't keep your arms straight in a back wheel hop. Bending your elbows downwards will let you rest in a much more comfortable position. (maybe check some videos of other riders to see what I mean) Keep it up!

Hey dude, nice video, keep it going! You should try to bend your armes a little more, and keep your bike at the same angel while hoping in one place and . Playing around whit that angel realy helps finding that sweet spot in wich it is super easy to balance the bike. So go super deep whith your front wheel but also try to pull back your handle bars to the point where the stemp is almost touching your balls. This tip gave me a huge boost in my riding. Looking forward to see your progress!

This is sick. Starting on that bench is genius. I am a big old man and trying to learn this. The one thing you need to work on is your British accent. In my observation, you need that dialed to be an excellent trials rider ;P

You do this really smoothly! I have been trying to “study” this clip closely. It seems that while jumping you actually don’t keep your rear wheel brake fully locked. Rear wheel seems to rotate just slightly with every hop. So are you constantly modulating braking power here even when just “practicing” hopping and not moving forward? Like around 2:04 -2:10.
@adrianmartinovic80545 жыл бұрын
He does a slight pedal kick every time he jumps so when he is about to hop he releases brake a little bit so he is able to pedal and locks it when landing,I think

+James Johnson If you have rim brakes, there should be a spacer that is round ( 2 half spheres) those go in between your clamps and the actual brake pistons... also make sure your bolts on the clamps are tightened down evenly, there should be even space on both sides of your clamps after tightened... good luck friend and keep pedaling!!!!!

With your front wheel up on a bench, how far ahead do you focus your line of sight? At the back of the front wheel, or further forward? Progress has been slow for me, I started about 5 weeks ago. I've got about 14 hours practicing this and my control is still lacking, hence my focus question. My forearms are now pretty strong though, no pain at all. ;-)
@BlackWoodDecor7 жыл бұрын
+Greg Henderson I would say have your eyes up and off the bike if at all possible. Let your body balance the bike, you should be able to scan with your eyes cause that's what you will be doing once rear wheel hops become second nature, you will be concentrating on the obstacles you will be jumping on..... Try pulling the stem closer to your balls ( standing the bike more upright) ... this should help .... having your arms stretched out too much will make it more difficult to preform the small correction hops you are looking for ... keep practicing and it will come
