How to rebuild 1988 Evinrude 88SPL carburetor

Rebuilt the carbs on my 88SPL Evinrude outboard motor

@semajd5995 usually the carburators are the most common things

Those plastic bowls warp when removed, you should have bought the aluminum carb bowl for replacement. OMC only used plastic bowls on G4’s for 4 years and went back to aluminum in like 1993 or 1994.

Hey can you tell me what the stuff past the carbs are I bought one that is missing everything past the carbs

I noticed you didn’t set the adjustment on the float. Is it not that important? My carbs say 1 3/16. Is that how far the float should hang down from the lower base of the carb body?

yes that is important and should be checked /adjusted as needed

@@DJsWorkshop Is that 13/16 or one inch, three sixteenths (which seems like a lot)?

what are the o rings and aluminum cap for? I am about to do the same rebuild and im not sure where they would go?

I did not use them . I believe the caps are to replace the ones that you have to drill out to gain access to a jet or something.

just wondering. i also have a 1988 88 spl and the part number for my is different than the one u have. are they interchangeable

I am not sure you would need to check with the dealer so they can cross reference the part number
