I purchased a rebuild kit from this company for a CS130D GM alternator. Kit includes a new rotor, bearings, bridge rectifier, voltage regulator and brushes. Following the instructions in this video made it easy. Reinstalled the rebuilt alternator in my truck and it is cranking out 14.62 volts at idle. Thanks for a great deal and most appreciative of you making this step-by-step rebuild video.

Around 9:35, I'm not sure if my alternator is OEM or a rebuild, but the bent-over metal behind the front bearing was not present. Stock CS130D in a 2000 Pontiac Firebird TransAm WS/6, "Delphi Automotive Systems" embossed on the front of the housing. I don't remember replacing the alternator in the last 19 years that I've owned it, but things get forgotten over the years. Or it may have been replaced before I got it. Where the bent-over metal should be looked rough. Rougher than the unmachined metal around it. My best guess is that it was a rebuild, and that shop cut it out as part of their process. I just tapped the bearing out with a socket. More gently than your video, but this is my first rebuild, and I want to be sure it works when I'm done. This may be useful to someone, if they get confused at that part. Your videos have been very useful to me.

Thank you. Sounds like you have an original, previously rebuilt. Not really a problem. Just use plenty of red loctite 271 on the new bearing. Good idea to clean outer race with rubbing alcohol. Smash over aluminium housing surface as much as possible.

Thanks for your video. I think that it's important to keep as many original parts on your vehicle. I will be ordering a new kit for my 99 Silverado as it has 180,000 miles never changed the alternator. Guess they made good quality part's back then.

CS 130D is a Piss poor design, the CS-144 was the best overall.

P1638 CHEVROLET - Generator 'F' Terminal problem? the alternator is putting out 13.38volts any ideas what can cause this?

I have a question for anybody. Where do the 2 white fiber washers go? I don't recall seeing those when I took it apart... 2 months ago.

You only have to use one where the insulator go. We send two in case one gets lost or ruined.
