its CEC_0.51HF the board is a mk2 version which includes a small audio amp to increase the volume on SSB

@@robertdmaiden6903 maybe if you need vhf at the same time, but to be honest there is no loss on hf and swapping antennas isn't a big chore

If you want to listen at home, I would advice getting an SDR dongle. Much better selectivity and real sideband, not DSB.

I have tried to listen to HF without the mod at 18.000 and up. But I can not receive anything even though I can receive on other radios like my ATS 25 max decoder. On the the uv k5, I am running IJV 3.40 firmware. Sadly in another uv k5, I tried to install the v2 mod board but accidently removed the subminiture black chip to the right of the removed FM IC. Do you know the value of that chip, hopfully I can replace it.

@@ominkan3129 these radios are using the hf mod board for reception. The software CEC_051.hf is also required. the radios do work down to18mhz without the mod but I don't know how well

@@ominkan3129 assume you didn't remove the 8 pin sil chip, the small device to the right is a 1k 402 resistor and carries data so I won't work without it. Its an easy fix if you have a stock of 0402 resistors

@@Rex-G8UBJ Thanks so much for your help. I did solder the kit of the v2 mod board and installed it. When removing the 8 leg chip I also removed the 402 chip that you identified for me. There is another 402 on the left side as well. That one remains. Only the right side is gone and needs to be replaced. You are right, the radio is not letting me input anything. Definitely a needed part. My radio doesn't see the Mod board so I must have made some kind of mistake while soldering all the SMD components. Thanks again for your replies.
