I AM a visual artist and this brought up so much I cried. Some of it is timing and some of it is the way it was phrased because it wasn't as if the information was new to me. I just felt so much loss when I heard about the de-valuing of the artist and how we are in a lot of ways always birthing something new and so how does one put a value on something like that with the system that we are in right now? And again, not to be a victim. I chose my profession and wouldn't make a different choice. There is so much love that I get from being "connected" and people stop me and tell me how much my art means to them. I am hopeful, from what was said today, that art will be valued in more tangible ways and that others, who would love so much to be some kind of creative would be honoured and supported because we finally, as a collective, understand how valuable each of us are. Down with all the barriers and obstacles and lets support each other, no matter what.
@lcie7737 Жыл бұрын
I often feel my art comes from my soul and when I choose share it I am at my most vulnerable. My struggle has been with the weight the world puts on concepts of seemingly opposite importance, business, politics, technology ect… my values are not in alignment with this worlds and I’m hoping any art I share will increase a shift towards love, justice, truth. May it be so for you as well❤

@26:11 speaking of impersonalization of life: I did not want to hear what was said to me about my divorce and what my ex did to me...but, once I was able to hear it, i let it go. The person said, "it was not about you! She would have done it to anyone!" Once I could impersonalize it, after numerous years, I finally let it go.

I feel you there. Just maybe that pain could be a bit more archetypal... Like if you perceive her as an authority/healer/teacher/friend... And she expressed a personal boundary in a way that feels so personally invalidating/victimising to you... Maybe like a betrayal of trust... What is that 'trust' that you feel was broken ? Is it perhaps a subconscious expectation that those whom you like will always agree with your worldview ? Is it about their differing boundaries threatening your sense of safety or empowerment ? Just throwing ideas around

@22:50 thank you for the story of St Augustine, Florida, and the question you posed. What drives people to do that? Is it the drive for feeling worthy? Or is there something more to it? I’m having a major A-ha moment here. What drives people to do what they do? More often than not the reasoning processes behind those actions make no sense. Yet, we can’t help ourselves, but follow the drive. From my past life explorations it appears that we get programmed with patterns of behaviour that we continue to repeat throughout many lifetimes. I don’t know if it is because we can’t break the patterns for so long or maybe because we don’t necessarily want to break them? Maybe we want to learn anything and everything there is to learn from those patterns before we move on to something else? For me it’s a pattern of leaving a place of birth and moving somewhere really far away from home. It is not for the sake of conquering but rather a curiosity of what else is out there? Each time it forces me to dramatically open up to new cultures, new ways of living and being, very new and exciting experiences. In the process it becomes hard or even impossible for me to return to my place of origin, either it be due to the sheer distance I’ve travelled or due to the fact that I have changed so much that I don’t fit in to the old box anymore. Just recently I’ve discovered the origin story for my pattern and it’s incredibly ancient and distant and even not off this planet. Apparently we all came here from different parts of the universe. It makes sense that we would have brought different patterns of behaviour with us here. War and conquering being very prevalent ones I guess. Anyways, I have repeated my own pattern so many times, in so many different lifetimes it’s just crazy. I wander… am I done learning from this pattern? I am a white woman from Poland that lives in Canada and I can’t help but wonder. Although I didn’t kill a single native American to claim this place my home I cannot ignore the fact that I am yet another white person that moved in here. While I enjoy living quite comfortably the native peoples of this land are still struggling to be treated with dignity they deserve and that bothers me great deal. Yet, I found myself living in Toronto that seems to be a very cosmopolitan city, and I love it. It feels just right to have people from so many parts of the world, of different colours and races and cultures living together in relative harmony. Anyways, I’m sitting here, searching in my mind for some closing statement to finish this long tirade with, but nothing comes mind. I guess the story is still being written… I don’t know how it ends or what are the best takeouts from it. Thank you for this interview.

I consider Caroline Myss one of my greatest teachers. I read her books watched and listened to her online teachings. You know the saying: Don’t meet your heroes? 10-11 years ago I had the opportunity to attend an evening talk she gave with a book signing after. I went by myself which is something I had never done before or since. That is how much I wanted to see and meet her. The talk was as expected she was teaching from her new work, Archetypes. I stood in line for half an hour to get my book signed. As I remember we were given instructions as to how to interact with her, protocol. It was weird. Then when it was my turn. I immediately felt uncomfortable. I felt diminished, judged and like I shouldn’t be there. She was curt and nearly rude. I know she is an intuitive healer and wondered why she wasn’t welcoming. Afterward I tried to rationalize those feelings. Was she tired, did she have a bad day? All I know is I am extremely sensitive, empathic and I easily pick upon other’s energies. Maybe we were just abrasive to each other’s energy. I’ll never know. I almost didn’t watch this, but decided I wanted to hear what she had to say. I was disappointed that she’s still teaching archetypes and didn’t have anything new to say. I do respect her ideas and insights about the mess we are in politically, etc.

Then give your partner the archetype cards and ask them to pick out 10 cards that they figure to be your strength and 10 cards that they figure to be your weakness. Then compare your list to theirs. As Buddha told about the last night of his journey at time of enlightenment , 'many lives have i lived and in each life i gathered materials for the next one. Today i have destroyed them all. ' The courage, the power, the persistence it takes to move beyond the conditioning, to recognize the archetypes, the determined and unfliching gaze at the truth is what it takes to destroy those materials. The ancient myths that describe the tribulations and trials of mystics are symbols which have guided us to this point. But now we are at the crossroads...our 'civilization' has led us to the point (as much modern literature tells us) where we see ourselves alone in the universe, bereaved and forgotten...how to reincarnate as a new species?

The victimization thing has always been an awkward balance for me. So, if I were in the village that was taken over by Spain in Florida, am I just to suck it up? Or can I go through the grieving process without feeling I'm in a disempowering archetype? I understand that w don't want to continue a patten or never create beauty from ashes, but do I bit get to say I had a bad day? I understand we can use gratitude and positivity to regain power with each new moment. Michael often refers to his accidents. I'm okay with it, but is that a victim archetype being continued? I just find these conversations frustrating. There have been people in the streets and were Michael and Carolyn, one of them? I'm just not relating to this 100%

Spiritual leadership and guidance holding extremely binary political views? No, thank you. She’s treading on thin ice with her credibility. Appreciate you so much, Michael; you’ve created such an inclusive community. I encourage you to hold your guests to that standard by challenging them when needed. It would not be easy to do, but would be interesting to hear guests’ responses if you you were moved to temper their less ‘transcendent’ ideas. She’s every bit as judgmental as the religion she vocally criticizes.
