What would your average doctor know more about over training and cycling?

Please can you put the actual question in so I can get some context to what is being asked?

Because I had no other option, I had cycled to work for three years and I trained after the commute also in my free time. In October 2020 I realized that I was starting to overtrain. After two months I was able to save myself into homeoffice from Dezember until February. In March I had to start commuting again and at first everything was great and really challenged myself, until I realized that I started overtraining again in May. Only now there was no homeoffice to save me and I had to drive through until November with muscle pain and exhaustion until I literally fell off the bike. In November I was able to switch to car and haven't cycled for 9 months now. I've had to walk a lot lately because I've started a new Job (what a surprise.... in an online bike parts shop) and I notice that I get sore muscles in the typical muscle regions you need for cycling. I have been to 4 doctors who have all told me that I should simply do less activity. It's just that I've done little to no physical exercise for 9 months and my blood values are excellent. I'm also starting again with the typical symptoms of overtraining, only not from cycling but from leisurely walking. What can I do now to somehow get back on a healthy path? I have already accepted that I won't be able to ride a bike this year at all.

The title is misleading, because you don‘t give an answer!

I think it was “go see a doctor” mostly

I'd love to know what doctors you are referring to? I'm 51 and have had quite a few in my life and can with full confidence tell you they would have no idea what "overtraining" was. Nor do I think a single medical school anywhere covers such a topic. I'm afraid overtraining remains a field of expertise in the bro science category.

The months to years seems almost hard to believe without an underlying medical condition of some sort, I can be wrong and I am not a doctor but needing that much time off to just recover seems overblown and I am not trying to minimize over training. I firmly believe a large % of athletes fail to achieve their goals because they over train to some extent. I believed that for decades as I was involved strength training and competitive bodybuilding prior to cycling and in that circle over training is common place

It has happened. Alberto Salazar is the most notable example.
