Your mannerisms for tutorials get me invested because you are so soft spoken and relaxed. No loud hyper wannabe internet personality being all like “YO WHADDUP ITS YA BOY -“ shit who spends the whole video going way too fast and way too energetic when talking which feels like it treats me as if I’m already an expert and it overwhelms me and distracts me from learning. What I love about you is that even though you have mastered Ableton, you are deliberately slow in your actions and presentation because you acknowledge your target audience and are super beginner friendly so you can give uneducated people a chance to follow along without issue. I look forward to watching more tutorials from you.

Thanks for your video. I just got this Ableton software because it was included with my Focusrite Scarlett. The only thing I'll be using it for is to overdub a guitar to existing songs and send that track back to my friend. I cannot find any videos that explain how to do that. I drag and drop his song file into the project, I can hear my guitar live, but when I hit "record" nothing happens. I hear the track playing his song but my guitar disappears and does not record. None of the videos on youtube explain how to do this. I can do it with Audacity but I don't like the sounds they offer for guitar.

To be honest 90% of it is mic election and placement. Make sure the mic you own fits your voice. After that some bits of EQ, compression and limiting can help. But those things should be minimal, setting the mic levels and making sure your mic is placed properly is the most important part of getting good sound.

On windows, my audiomixer (behringer|) doesn't show under ASIO, it only shows under the MME/DirectX driver..
@DJCouchKing4 ай бұрын
You'll need to download the ASIO driver for your audio interface, or ASIO4ALL if you don't have an interface. I would highly recommend getting an interface if you don't have one.

Hi Alex, i have a question how to use ableton for live performance and adjust the tempo track while singing and playing can you help ?
@DJCouchKing4 жыл бұрын
You could MIDI map the tempo to a knob on a midi controller.

Thanks So I choose the tempo and map it on my midi controller so I can change it during performance

how can add effects like reverb delay etc to my recorded vocal voice in ableton live
@DJCouchKing4 жыл бұрын
Just go over to the browser where it says "audio effects" then drag and drop the effect you want on the track. Or use the sends to send it to the reverb/delay return tracks.

Thanks for the great video, could you please tell what mic you are using ? Sound quality on this video is way better than most I ve seen on youtube!

Thanks! I use a Rode VideoMic Pro+ for the camera shots and an AKG P220 for the voiceover/tutorial sections.

very good vid. thx. Is there any easy way to remove noises like in Audacity where you can select (noise reduction) ?
@DJCouchKing4 жыл бұрын
Ableton doesn't have built-in destructive operations like normalize, or noise reduction etc. In the file/folder preferences you can set an external audio editor such as audacity to open and edit clips. Otherwise there are plugins like RX denoise that can do that

Love; liked and subscribed! How do listen to what I just recorded through my scarlet?
@DJCouchKing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! If your audio settings are set up for scarlett just make sure your headphones/speakers are plugged into output of the interface and press play.

Hi Alex. I'm not new to Ableton. I record rock stuff. But, one thing I've never done and want to to is record bass through a compressor plugin to the track. So it's already compressed somewhat before I manipulated it later. How do I do that? Thanks.
@DJCouchKing3 жыл бұрын
I would get a pedal or a hardware compressor if you want to add compression before recording. Otherwise add the plugin after so you can tweak it later.

When I click on channel one the green line doesn’t move when I play and it won’t record anything
@DJCouchKing4 жыл бұрын
Check to make sure that the channel is set to External input. If you have a condenser mic make sure the phantom power/48v button it on and the gain level is up.

Hi there! I have all the settings set up like you said, but I keep getting this weird shallow background noise through my microphone. In either 'IN' 'AUTO' or 'OFF' the issue keeps being the same. I just would like to hear my voice clear through the mic. Any help? Thank you!
