Leaving this here in case anyone else has my issue. I just downloaded Davinci Resolve for the first time and decided to follow along with this for practice. I didn't have the window in the upper right corner that Activater has at 8:57 where he moves the clip over. Just hit the button that says Inspector right over that area and it should come up!

Did you set desktop audio in the settings of OBS? You can also add a source called "audio playback device" that will see whatever audio you want that plays from your default audio device or anything you select.

MP4 works as well with multiple audiotracks, you can call me crazy, but i record videos in 1440p with 3-4 audiotracks (mic, discord, game and music sometimes) with 75k bitrate 3 hours of footage is about 100GB size 😅 Thx for the vids btw, some of them are really helpful

MP4 you will corrupt the file if OBS crashes though. You should record to MKV because its safer, the file is still usable even if obs crashes.

Better explanation than I’ve seen in some other videos, thank you! I couldn’t get this question answered though, and was wondering if maybe you could answer? How would you make a set up like this for 4K capture? Do you have to go quadruple wide?? The editing processing load would be insane! The camera resolution is fine since it would be cropped most of the time anyway but the gaming footage is stuck at 1080… maybe a dumb question but is the display capture, capturing at the resolution of the the monitor and just “downgrading it” for the frame size in OBS? Or is it maxed out at 1080p? Thank you so much for your insights!

Interesting. Also, thanks! Okay so: 1. Display capture is just showing your display fit into whatever your canvas size is in OBS. So it'll down-res your 4k monitor to 1080p if your ons canvas is 1080p. (However, it may have a little more detail than if you had a 1080p display and OBS canvas.) 2. For a 4K capture of your gameplay, yeah, you'd need to up-res the canvas size to something like 7680x2160. 😅 However this would open up the option to add more stuff to capture on the "camera" side of OBS since you can put four 1080p captures in there if you wanted while the other half of your canvas is your gameplay. 3. If you do that above, your gpu and/or CPU is gonna be crying a bit as that is a lot of resolution to record. I'd run a basic test and see that it even works. You may not have enough power for your game to play unless you're capturing from a console.

When I remix the file and go to my editing software, either Filmora or Davinchi, the audio tracks aren't separated.

Davinci for sure works as I use it, however, you may want to check which encoder you're selecting for the video when recording. The .MKV files seem to work in Davinci and don't need the remux anymore. Maybe try that?

Also make sure you are for sure selecting different audio tracks for the audio in obs and that they're not on both tracks instead of they're own. How many tracks of audio show up in Davinci for you? (Regardless if they're all the same or different) Is it just two tracks? (Two audio bars and one video bar?)

There is a checkbox in the settings to rescale the output. Is that enabled? I can't remember where it is off the top of my head. 😅

You don't need two screens. For capturing, you're just making the canvas of OBS double the size of a normal 1080p monitor. You put your computers display on half of that, then the other half is a camera that is full screen.

Are you sure you selected the tracks that are needed to be recorded in the settings of OBS? Does the recorded video (if opened on its own in a video player) have game sound?

so im running into some issues with dropped frames. The recording settings are pretty straight forward but its my encoder settings i cant seem to get right. currently i am CBR at 20000 kbps. keyframe of 2, p6 preset, high quality, two passes full res, high profile, psycho tuning selected and 2 max bframes. i initially started at 24000kbps and that was real bad and even now at the lowered bitrate i am still struggling to capture clean video. what would you recommend to fix this? i have been having issues with my recordings/streams lately and they have been causing OBS to crash out of nowhere when i havent really changed anything recently. please help if you can! :(

If you record in 4k, the recording will be in 4k so when you upload that, it'll stay in 4k. If you record both images (like in this video where I have a larger canvas in OBS) in a 4k canvas and then crop into that video file in your editing program, your video might look lower resolution if you zoom into it, also your editing program will need to be setup to export in 4k if your goal is to keep the video in 4k.
