Idk I still think just having Edison on a fx track is simple and effective. One thing I really like about Edison is the recording mode “ on play “. Let’s say you are doing a vocal recording on a certain part of your track, you can loop the track and everytime it loops Edison will give you a marker on the recording so it’s easy to line up to the playlist. Plus you can audition as many times as you want with out stopping the track over and over. Awesome vid and love the channel ✌️😎

OMFG that crossfade ... thank you so much for bringing that to attention!!! "Clicks" doing vocal comping always have bugged the hell out of me!!! I keep finding new stuff in this new version that makes workflow SO much easier. I record in to FL through a Behringer X32 (and use it for final mixing), with outboard analog gear, and this became much smoother in the new version. Being able to see dB levels, adjusting whether I monitor when armed or not, etc, all makes things a lot more intuitive for doing a hybrid recording session. I have 25 channels coming in to FL Studio for recording synth, drums, guitar, vocals, analog effects, etc; and it was quite tedious and cumbersome before this version came out, to set up. So many cringe moments when previously on FL Studio would feedback, if I didn't stay on top of mute groups when transitioning from recording to editing and back again. Now with the monitor settings I don't have to worry quite so much about it. Multi-select on the mix to delete bad takes in bulk, oh man, so time saving. :)
@inthemix3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like this update really stepped things up for you. It's exactly that sort of multi-mic/input recording situation that has always been frustrating in FL Studio. It's getting really close to perfect now!
@lawrencesounddesign18622 жыл бұрын
@@inthemix indeed; the "micromanagement" of multiple tracks created by looped takes was incredibly tedious before this update. Imagine, 25 active audio inputs recording a band, and doing 3 takes of a section back to back. Now there's 75 new tracks created under the interfaces in the grid; after doing comps, all 75 had to be individually deleted. Even on a smaller scale, say, doing a DI + 2 mics on a guitar cab. To do a quad tracked heavy rhythm guitar, for example, say a dozen passes are done, to pick the best or do comps off of to end with the best four to pan l/r; that's 36 tracks to delete one by one after doing all of the comps and consolidation. Now I can just multi-select the (now empty) tracks and nuke them all at once. The macro tools for cleaning up after that mess is also good. After comps and consolidations are done, would be left with a ton of unused instrument audio channels; the macro to purge those is SO useful. The other stuff, like having dB meter above the faders, is nice. It's so easy to accidentally bump the scroll wheel at the wrong moment and move something you didn't intend, nice to have a reality check clearly visible before printing a mix. Some other DAW's handle recording tasks better, still (especially for doing comps), but this is a big step in the right direction for FL Studio. The stereo view in a channel, that's great for spotting phase issues, etc. FL studio is really starting to feel like a polished mix environment and quite a lot more productive now. Let time spent doing tedious tasks means more time spent focusing on the workload itself! I very much enjoy your videos, glad to see you making more! Keep them coming!! :)

Hey Michael, appreciate all Your work and it's really good to have sb "lead the pack" the way You have. What I would love to see more of are the deeper more advanced side of recording, production and mixing. Because I know this is what You thrive in (the more advanced take on FL) I would appreciate You taking us through a much "bigger" session where You record say a couple string players in a pro-studio (that's just an example). Then perhaps walk us through the entire chain of setup. I'm sure enough of us will be willing to spend an hour or even more to watch You walk us through such a process☀️

Ive been engineering on FL for over a year and a half now and I’d argue that FL is far easier to use than pro tools for recording. Recording on FL gives you a ton of control over what you are doing with a much easier layout, especially when you get the hang of all the different features mentioned in this video
