Hey! Such interesting timing that you uploaded this short, I’ve been watching the original video on repeat for ages trying to psych myself up into actually buying the materials and cracking on with this, and I’m actually going to next week I have a question for you, of you were doing it again, in what way do you reckon you would be more adventurous with the fabric? Do you think you would still go to the same provider? I’m considering trying to get custom prints from them, but I’m not sure if that’d actually be worth however much extra It’d be

Fine advice for the self-recording musician, but some of us operate studios in urban environments - where our expensive equipment would be stolen if burglars only needed a brick to get in. . I don't want people even _looking in my windows to even know I have a studio there. As for pulling the curtains when I am mixing? I am always mixing.. Besides 80% of the work here is at night anyway. Often into the wee hours. Moonlight has minimal health benefits.

That "enable" got me! I had set it on default, and nothing happened.I'm sitting there changing stuff, and it's like... nothings happening. I adjusted one of the dials, it auto-enabled it. I did not even notice the little checkbox coming on, so now I know lol.

Hey you mention bit meters and spectrum for mastering? Can you make a video why you use those while mastering?

A great video for people to spend so much time at mixing and editing desks. I have a acoustically treated studio as well as a 1.5 sq meter vocal iso booth. I also have a giant glass door that looks out over a beautiful park. That view is kept me sane over the years especially during corona lockdowns. My solution for treatment when I have to do critical listening and mixing is 4 heavy moving pad blankets I hang over the door/glass. In the film industry these are also known as sound control blankets. All the while corner and ceiling bass traps are all in place at all times. When I’m doing critical video editing I have a full blackout curtain system. When I am doing tasks that do not require critical listening or color detail I let the sunshine in. Thank you for a very insightful video.

Extremely proud of you to upload a video like this. Even though uploading "out of topic" videos can negatively impact youtube algorithm, you anyways did it to help lot of people. I have heard about this before but I wasn't doing anything particular to take care of it. I realized things like 20-20-20 rules were what I needed so much; a specific practice you can easily implement. I will try to keep that in mind 24/7. Thank you for your sincere work, very much appreciated!

I think another thing that is really important (actually was a small part of my bachelor) FLOWERS! GET YOURSELF SOME FLOWERS! They majorly improve the air quality in both studio and regie rooms! This air improvement reduces chance of depression and will make work more productive and improves human interactions. Not even pretty onces. Just greens. "Grünlilie" called spider plant in english based on google is a perfect choice. Pretty much immortal and very great when it comes to people being allergic to it. (=few are)

Hi! How would you go about calculating those pannels to treat a room after measuring it if I may ask? As in, how do I go from the density to the flow resistivity

It depends! If you want to "make" the sound, use eq later, eventually. But if u have to reduce peaks defenitly use eq first!. Mostly i would just use ew first tbh.

You make an excellent point here. From a biophysics standpoint, sunlight is absolutely essential for the brain and overall biology. Most people are essentially deficient in UV and infrared light. You could supplement red/IR with a red light panel but nothing beats sun exposure. Set your circadian rhythm by getting outside into natural light at sunrise or upon waking to kickstart your circadian clock before getting into the studio.

How come the recording doesn't lean to one side since you have recorded the guitar placing the mics on the 12th fret ie the center of the instrument? it should lean to the left... the video is fake

Hey michael i just wanted to ask if you use a pre amp or an interface for your headphones. And if yes which one?
@anhellehna68583 күн бұрын
Nice design!! They all in black and lined up on the wall look so sexy!! I'm planing to go DIY for my acoustic panels too. However, I've just a few concerns about this design. How does insulation material sits on the thin bottom side? Doesn't it bend the thin wood due to the gravity? Furthermore, I don't think that this design is applicable for cloud panels being hung up upside down on the ceiling, because of the same concern that the insulation material would sag from the front side this time. Would you use these panels as clouds too? If yes, how would you modify them to prevent the insulation from sagging? Please, let me know if I worry unnecessarily. According to your opinion, I will either choose this design for all of the panels, or go for a more reliable design for clouds (maybe for all).
@inthemix3 күн бұрын
I don’t know of a more reliable design than this to be honest… For clouds I would use a lighter insulation but the material inside does not sag. The strips of wood at the bottom and sides are held very firmly in place by the solid framework. My panels work with the natural strength of the wood grain whereas the other “professional” panels flex much more.
