Specifying "live" in your search terms make all the difference in the world. I pretty much searched for his title, and of course this was the first link.

Thanks for the vid. This was one of like 2 whole videos I found on recording acoustic drums in FL Studio. I watched this 9 months ago when I started my drum recording journey.

SM57 is still to this day the go-to microphone for snappy snare drum (and guitar amps, especially distorted)... but you can work with whatever you've got... used a really old "crystal" microphone from a reel to reel tape recorder before and it was v crunchy (but not great for kick etc, need another for that but any cheapo dynamic can work for that if close) A carbon microphone from a 60s land-line telephone gives a really dirty lo-fi feel :)

SM57 on the snare is so good Once you start getting into mics and drum recording, you never go back lmao

It's very I treating that even with overdub switched off when using STOP instead of PAUSE the previous takes overlap with the new ones when the tracks are assigned to the mixer channels. When they are unassigned all is good.

Is there a way to record laptop audio into fl to drum over. Like if i find a shed loop and wanna drum over it, record, and listen back how would i go about doing that.

why i have only 2 channals ??? I have a mixer with 7 microphones connected and I connect the mixer to the interface and I only have 2 channels. How to make it have 7 channels?
@feezoАй бұрын
Try going into your audio settings in the project and changing the audio device to your interface, it might be on ASIO4ALL or FL Studio ASIO, which usually only has 2 channels
@lightfantastik14 сағат бұрын
If your mixer's audio interface is basic and doesn't send each channel independently to your PC (only sending the stereo downmix), or you only own a typical stereo sound card, then that's what you're kind of stuck with. You either need a fancier mixer (like a Tascam Model 12), or a fancier sound card that has at least 8 channels (Scarlett 18i20, Tascam 16x08, PreSonus Studio 1824c, etc). I am currently using an old 8 channel analog mixer to downmix everything to stereo before bringing it into my computer (similarly to you). However, I hope to eventually buy an audio interface with more inputs. There are some great deals on them used, and of course the Behringer 8 channel one is pretty cheap to begin with.

However, hearing his recordings in this video (presumably done with just 2 mics, as shown), makes me think this 7-8 mic setup I'm attempting might be overkill, especially since it's not like we're recording an album. I am ready to bust out this old ass stereo electret mic from Radio Shack that I used to bootleg concerts with as a teenager and see how that works, lol.

Is FL studio easier to record then Cubase?

It doesnt record in audio track but i did everything why?
@sickmessiah6 ай бұрын
Too bad FL can’t do a “ beat detective “ style of workflow. Group quantizing multiple mics and selecting which ones to follow “ kick , snare and Tom close mics “ …. Let alone that option with the comp edit options for the group. Fit in depth multi mic workflows the work around scan be a nightmare.
@jadenshafe86294 ай бұрын
what do you mean by this? im trying to learn as much as i can about Fl and recording drums with it
@sickmessiah4 ай бұрын
@@jadenshafe8629 What I mean is you cant link several tracks together ( like what you need to edit drums toigether to keep them in phase ) Look up beat detective style of drum editing in pro tools .. Thats the origin of that style of editing ... Then look up comp editing of drums ... Fl cant do either workflow worth a damn for mutlimic instuments like real drums mic'd up
