Sir, I wholeheartedly thank you. I was recording my voice for an animatic for my university project, and I had no idea how to use the recorder. Thanks to this video, I have something to hand in, and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

Hi Tony Thank you for this video Can this H2n be connected to a power bank that people use for their smartphone? And can I use this H2n for external mic on my smartphone when I record video?

This is very useful ! I thought it would be better with 2ch but now thanks to you, I changed the setting. And by the way, do you advice people to register their voice under their duvet? :).

About the clap thing for syncing a video, how do you do that? Do you press record on your camera first, and then press record on the Zoom H2N, then clap or snap your fingers? And what video editor do you use, and how do you sync the video and audio? Thanks...SBN RESONATE

OK - this one deserves a video. I'll make you (and the rest of the world) one an post soon. FYI, I typically use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit.

That's 320k BIT per second, not BYTE (that would be 40k BYTES per second. (8 bits per byte.)) I have an old Zoom H4, it has the XY microphone configuration as well as a phantom powered XLR mic input. I also have a Zoom Q2HD video camera that can also be used as an audio recorder. It has Mid-Side microphone configuration and if I'm trying to capture something in stereo it has better stereo separation than the XY mic. It records in AAC format which I like because it's twice the quality of MP3 at the same bit rate. And I have a Tascam DR-05, which also has an XY microphone configuration. It's my go to recorder for out in the field because it is so much more sturdier built than the Zoom products, cost quite a bit less than the Zoom products, and I don't have the problem with hand noise near as bad as with the Zoom products. In my opinion the Tascam menu system is much easier to learn and use than the Zoom menus. And the Tascam is much easier to use with cold hands or with gloves than the Zoom products. Either one you use after you've figured out the settings and get them set how you want, you rarely if ever change them.

Duck Landes what would the best settings be for recording an interview between two people in a small echoey room?
@DFDuck554 жыл бұрын
@@shockafter7: My suggestion would be to use a splitter cable and two Lavalier Lapel microphones. Turn the recording gain down so it doesn't pick up the echo. Better to record a little low than too high.

Duck Landes thanks man. Are you able to provide links to both? Can be amazon, just for reference. I’ve looked, and because I’m not in the US, I have to source it a bit extra. Just want to make sure I get exactly what you suggest (I trust you and I can tell you have the right idea).

@@shockafter7: Since you haven't said what you're using to record with, I will assume for now that your recorder has a 3.5mm stereo microphone input, and not XLR or 1/4 inch. Here is the type cable you would use to connect two microphones to a single 3.5mm stereo input; each microphone would be recorded on a separate channel (left / right) which makes it real nice when editing. And you can mono-ize it if you want when done editing. I use this type cable on a Tascam DR-05 field recorder with a pair of Neewer lavalier lapel mics. www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Headset-Microphone-Headphone-Splitter/dp/B004SP0WAQ/ For microphones, rule of thumb is spend as much as you can justify spending. Generally the more you spend on a microphone the better it's going to sound. My second assumption is you, like me, are working with a small budget. I have had very nice results and sound quality using Neewer lapel mics that cost less than $10 each. Something like this, though it appears they currently unavailable. (I got four of these mics for $7 each from jet.com four years ago, but they don't have them any more.) www.amazon.com/Neewer-Lavalier-Omnidirectional-Microphone-Samsung/dp/B01934RQDM/ Or this one for about $17 USD. www.amazon.com/dp/B07MC6RMV2/ Or this one for about $21 USD. www.amazon.com/dp/B016C4ZG74/ Or this set of 2 microphones for about $20 USD. They looks like they could be rebranded Neewer mics, including the pouch they come in. www.amazon.com/Lavalier-Lapel-Microphone-Bundle-Clip/dp/B082M9W4G1/ If you search Amazon for "lavalier microphone" you will find an assortment in various price ranges. www.amazon.com/s?k=lavalier+microphone When recording be sure to place your microphones as near to your mouth as you can without breathing on it. The air hitting the microphone causes "plosives" (if you don't know what plosives means google "microphone plosives".) It's easier to avoid plosives than it is to try to edit them out later (they can't be edited out.) And turn your recording gain down so it picks up your voice without picking up the echo from the walls of your small room. Hope this helps you :>

@@DFDuck55 thank you. im thinking about buying the h2n, even tho i could get an h1, i think any bit of audio quality i can get and features will benefit. im currently recording of a decade old sony ic recorder and i used it last week (was given it) and the audio quality is ok but because of the room, there was so much muffle and echoing and was just horrible to listen and transcribe it for my report.
