How to record your Practical Experience Requirement (PER) | ACCA PER | All about ACCA PER
Practical experience requirement (PER) is an essential part of the ACCA qualification.
To complete PER you'll need to achieve 36 months of supervised experience. This should be in a relevant accounting or finance role.
ACCA trainees can work in any sector and size of organization - you don't have to work for an ACCA Approved Employer. Experience can be gained prior to registering with ACCA, while you are studying for the exams or after you have completed the exams.
Your experience doesn’t have to be gained in a single role or in one continuous period and you can gain your experience in different roles and with different employers. You could also gain experience by doing voluntary work for clubs, charities or associations.
It's important is to look for the opportunities to help you meet your PER and to obtain a total of 36 months' experience in a relevant role or roles. It's also important that your work is appropriately supervised and that the time you complete towards your 36 months' experience is signed off by your practical experience supervisor.

If i do work for not approved partner of ACCA and i have to record PER then i have to fill up the supervision of any IFAC member person who is my manager and when would i write Performance objective at the end of peroid or in start at the time of claim

You'll have to write the POs and then submit it for approval from your supervisor, i.e, in your case, your manager. You can also discuss the points to include with your manager as well. 🙂

If I just started working for an approved employer (1 month ago) and also I have worked 100+ months previously for a non approved employer, can I ask the new (approved) employer for an exemption form for the first 5 objectives or I need 36 months actually worked for the approved employer before getting the exemption? You could still get the exemption from the approved employer that you are currently working on. However, there are 2 things to note here: 1. Your current supervisor cannot sign off on the work that you did on the previous non-approved employer. 2. Your current supervisor may only approve the exemption once you have worked on this organization for a considerable amount of time. i.e, you cannot get the exemption as of now, since you've only worked for 1 month. However, you can get it approved once you've demonstrated the skills in the respective POs for, I would say, 8 to 12 months (this timescale may vary depending upon organizations). There would be 5 elements for each POs and you will have to claim and write a statement on all 5 elements to complete a performance objective.

It is mandatory to have a supervisor to sign off both the time that you worked in your firm and the POs. Since the supervisor, in your case the 'old principal CA' who has a close supervision on your work is not available, you may not be able to satisfy the POs in your PER. However, you can get the time signed off by any current CA of the firm.

What should I do if: - I worked for a previous approved employer for 17 months (I did not ask for time in a relevant role to be accepted at ACCA platform) - currently I am working for an approved employer for 19 months Can my current approved employer confirm 36 months in a relevant role? Or should I also ask my previous employer for confirmation as well?

Once the PER confirmation form is approved by the Approved employer, you will get the essential POs exempted. Therefore, there is no further need to provide description for these.

Hello vijay, under IFAC qualified external supervisor, Can I get employment time approved by non qualified accountant with in the firm and performance objectives can be approved by qualified accountant from any other firm or individual who is qualified accountant in case of non availability of qualified accountant with in the firm? And secondly can I claim my technical objectives before claiming essential objectives or is it compulsory to first complete essential objectives and only then we can claim technical objectives? And is it necessary to fulfill all the elements under a particular performance objective or any one or two elements is sufficient to complete a particular performance objective? Hi, i have question regarding my PER. I have 36 months working experience which are: 14 months experience in non-approved employer (audit firm); and 22 months experience in approved employer So, do I still have to record for PER for the first 14 months OR working in current approved employer now already suffices to get PER exemptions for the whole 36 months?

You can definitely record BOTH your employment within PER and still get the PER exemptions for your essential performance objectives.. Hope that answers your question. 😇

I have heard that after completing PER, we have to pay membership ship fees not the subscription fees. Is it true? If I only get my time approved in PER and not performance objectives, Do I still need to pay annual membership fees?

n order to be eligible for the ACCA membership, you will have completed the requirement of 36 months of experience as well as complete all the required Performance Objectives. Once your PER, exam requirements, and EPSM is complete, you can apply for membership via the myACCA portal. And yes, as you said, you will have to may the membership fee in order for successful admission as an ACCA member. Post this, you will still be required to pay the subscription fees annually to maintain the membership. You could wait until you have the required 3 years, or you could take the opportunity of yearly performance reviews at your firm to also have your objectives (and time) signed off incrementally.
