How to recover / reset password on HikVision cameras / NVRs

Newer firmware needs the user to contact Hikvision for a file in order to unlock the unit. Please read user comment AthosZA below.

This is working perfectly, well i have a hikvision dvr Mod 2013, after some failed attempts i got it. i was having trouble with the appropriate date i had put into the box on the web page, but finally i made it. THANKS A LOT

Howzit ecologicaltime, it seems as if the firmware on the cameras/nvr that I am using doesn't allow me to use this method. Have you had any luck with contacting Hikvision using XML files? Do I contact Hikvision South Africa or do I contact the global team? Thanks.

Hey man, I had to give it a go because I couldn't use your method. So basically I downloaded the XML files from the devices completed the Hikvision Password reset form (PDF document) and sent everything through to their international email address. They responded within hours and referred my mail to local support (South Africa) who provided excellent service. They sent everything I needed to reset the passwords on my cameras. Very easy.

I think it depends on where you bought the cameras, apparently you get a USA version, a Global version, and a Chinese version (online bought devices from China), Hikvision SA will refer you elsewhere if you bought it from China.

hi.. good day! i would like to ask if ever i used a poe switch and connect the poe switch to the nvr why is it that only one camera can be seen or detected on the nvr? what should i do to detect the other camera? my nvr is ds7600 series

go into the menu of the NVR and manually add the cameras. Also, some cameras do not work with other manufacturer of NVR. Try use same make of camera and NVR.

i'm using same brand for camera and nvr, only hikvision... if i will put all the cameras directly to the nvr all cameras will be detected but if i use switch only one camera can be detected. i use poe switch for me to power the camera that are far from the nvr

you need to use an app that lets you search for the cameras and then you change their IP address to the range of the NVR.

How can i add a NVR to another NVR like adding an IP camera. I have tested dvr to nvr sucess, but NVR to NVR no sucess. Thi is for security backup purposes. Have you tried this before

Use the SMARTPSS or the IVMS software to manage the NVRs in clusters.

they have changed the SDAP Software can not do this anymore contacted hikvision and got no reply made several more attempts and no reply. About to throw it in the bin.

got it off ebay that was my problem all Hikvision suppliers wont help and tech guys wont help. So probably be in the bin beeping is killing when you cant add a hard drive due to access. Its a shame its a beautiful NVR can do so much

Hang on - dont throw it away. There must be a way to resolve this. There must be a way to default the system. Have you search for factory default hikvision rather than password recovery?

It was working like a charm until me the dummy changed the password before we went on holiday. Nekminit forgot it. contacted these guys Australia [e-mail]. Tried 4 times and offered to pay but No response even sent in digital mark. Got a instant response from the US [e-mail]) not automative only to be told to contact Australia they have an agreement not to get involved outside countries. Than again tried contacting him [e-mail] again then checked His linkin as hes some kid at Uni.
