How to recovery the Emuelec System

When I’m in disk genius and select the image file, it wants me to select target partition. In the video this is done automatically? I can’t find the same target partition. The video shows RD1: EMUELEC (D:) FAT16512.0 MB I can’t find that, all I get is Windows (C:), Recovery (D:), etc. 1:41

When I plug this into my PC, none of the files that you show in this video show up, in fact, the volume on the SD card is quite small, considering all the roms that are contained on it. I’m assuming this is a Linux versus PC problem but I don’t know how to resolve it in order to gain access to the correct folder in order to reset the system.

Hi Kim Hank, my sd card failed, so I’ve tried to create the file structure but can only get the first emuelec 512mb fat 16 as (d) the other 2 partitions keep coming up in numbers instead of drive letters. I need storage 1.5 gb ext4 as (f) instead of (1) and games 56.3 go fat32 as (g) not (2) It won’t let me change the drive assignment on this program for some reason, I’ve got all the games backed up ready to put in the games folder

Same here. Got sound but no video. If updating to 4.6 causes such issues a warning should be posted with it.

@@der_e9084 Not yet. And unfortunately the amzon seller of these Kinhank's responded with a link to this (useless?) video... Again, if these only run ver4.5 fine, but they should have put a little sticker on the user manual saying not to update it. Ill give this a try but looks like I might be asking for an amazon refund.

@@j.h.6328 Hey i found a solution. Press the select Button, than advanced System Options, chose another Emulator. You have to try some of them.

​@@der_e9084 That would maybe work except the issue was after the update to 4.6 it lost video support. Black screen after Emulec started. Audio still worked, but difficult to navigate the menu and reset to previous version when you can't see what you're doing... I told the Amazon seller what happened and suggested they replace the card rather than wastefully exchanging the entire box. The replacement card arrived in a few days, so props to their service. Now only issue is this card is not exactly the same as the first. Certain game options are gone, but oh well, I can play around with it. Also maybe figure how to restore the first card someday.

@@babyboo2tru this was copied off another channel & it worked for me: Try to open the menu pushing the Select button and "Reboot from nand", power off, power on without sd card, power off and then on again with the sd card. If it solves, don't unplug the power off, use "Quit" and "Shutdown" from the menu, so the save files won't corrupt again.

Hello KinHank, I recently updated my system via wifi but afterwards most of my games stopped working entirely. So I restored the system as per the instructions on this video and re-inserted the micro sd. Now when I turn on my system it fails to boot up EMUELEC at all. Instead it goes to the Slimbox TV logo and remains there unless I boot it up with the micro sd removed (in which case it goes to the default device menu instead). I've looked everywhere for a way to overcome this issue and it seems that many others have also encountered it, but I've yet to find a solution that works. I even backed up my original micro sd and cloned it onto another just in case the micro sd card itself was the issue, but the same thing happens regardless. I really like this system and any advice as to how I can fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless.

@@darrellb7835 Nah unfortunately man I didn't, but I did eventually figure out a solution with a little patience and I type it up here for anyone else whos lost . First of all I vastly recommend buying a whole new microsd for the purposes of this solution as the one included with the system is garbage. Now hopefully you have your games folder backed up or are still able to pull all of them from the EEROMs folder on the micro sd included with your system, if not youll have to regain all of your roms yourself by looking online, and that sucks but isnt the end of the world. Begin by formatting your micro sd card to fat32 by using the software "guiformat" or any equivalent formatting software that has fat32 as an option, you'll next have to reflash the sd card with the latest img file from either AmberELEC or EmuELEC. Go to the "releases" thread of whichever of these UI you prefer by visiting their homepages and choosing the option closest to the top of the list that says "generic" in the filename. Example: (Go to) github.com/EmuELEC/EmuELEC/releases/download/v4.6/EmuELEC (And download the img file labled) Amlogic-ng.aarch64-4.6-Generic.img.gz Now, use a flashing software like BalenaEtcher to flash that img file you downloaded to the newly formatted sd card. Once finished you will have a whole new set of folders that make up your systems build. One of these should be labled "device trees" and will contain dtb files. Take a breath, we're nearly done. Consider this the final boss of the operation and for it you will have to find which one of these dtb files corresponds with the system you are using to run the emulation software. Either by looking it up online (to which I personally couldnt find a direct answer for my system anywhere) or by using an apk to download a program to your device called Aida 64 to find specifics on your device and determine your RAM. If you're lucky you'll already know how much RAM you have or there will be a sticker on the back of your device that provides you with it. Using this info look for corresponding dtbs (For example: if you have 2gb RAM try one that might say 2g in the filename like S905X22G) once you find the one that looks good, copy it to the main folder labled either AmberELEC, EmuELEC or whatever UI that you went with and then rename that file dtb.img. Eject your microSD card now and re-insert it into your console. Boot up the system and wait five minutes and the software should work again.

@@darrellb7835 If for any reason this process didn't work check these things first. -Microsd was inserted properly. -The microsd was properly formatted to fat32. -Proper img file was selected for specific hardware and flashing of said img to newly formatted microsd was successful. -Proper dtb file was copied to main folder and renamed "dtb.img". If all of these things look correct and still no dice, try starting your system without the microsd, going to the apps menu, re-inserting the microsd and using the app LibreELEC to reboot the software. If this fails, it is possible you need to go back to the beginning step and use an older version of the software from lower on the releases thread. Good luck and leave a comment if you can on if and how this worked for you in your particular situation and maybe we can help some other folks out.

This thing won't read more than one controller. You can't do 2 or 4 players. I did everything in the video from the manual.
