The scars will go by the time. New roots will grow from that splited trunk and cover up the lower nebari.

Am sooooo sorry. In the super cyclon AMPHAN there were many trees smashed. But I'll surely try to publish a video with an another tree. Please keep in touch.

Will roots grow like this from a black pine or any type of tree? Have you experimented on others?

Can do it in any kind of ficus also. But not in conifers.

That tree was going good, but sorry to say i had to lost that in the massiv supercyclone Amphan. I mentioned it before. That smashed 3 trees and had broken many branches of others. Though they are recovering now.

I declared that I lost many trees in the last year super cyclon AMPHAN...... Within 23rd to 26th may 2021 an another is coming. JOSH. Don't know what will happen?😢

It encourages root growth where the trunk was split. So in some years it should have a nice and very wide base, and a nice taper, so the trunk and surface roots grow very thick at the bottom near the soil and gradually gets skinnier on the way up. Google Bonsai nebari and you will see beautiful examples of wide surface roots that I believe are the intention of this technique
