How to Redo a Headboard with Buttons - Easy No Sew Steps to Upholster a Headboard

I LOVE DIY Upholstery projects. Anyone can do this one. AND, you don't have to sew anything on this headboard.
Today I have a step by step walkthrough for how to redo a headboard with buttons. Don't worry, you can do it!

Here because I tried to clean our headboard basically the exact same way you did and also made it worse!! Now onto trying to trying to replace the material.

Thanks - excellent! Question regarding the velvet and its nap. Is the velvet nap correct when it runs the length of the fabric? That is, for my King Size headboard, that is 78 inches wide and approx 41" tall, will the velvet look right if I cut a little over 2 yards of 54 inch fabric for the main piece? I've read on-line that I need 6.5 yards of fabric for a king size headboard. But if I run the fabric length-wise, it seems that 3 yards will work. Thanks for your insight on this!

Thanks, Joan! I ran mine lengthways with the nap down when I brush my hand from top to bottom of the headboard. 3 yards is fine. 👍👍

Beautiful! Could you do this and not put the buttons back on? Or would that leave divets in the new upholstery?

If you use a thick upholstery fabric AND cover the old headboard with a fresh layer of Extra Loft Batting, you could probably skip the buttons. If you have deeper button holes than I did, fill the sunken area with batting under the new, full layer of batting. 👍

Can the push pin/tack rhinstones be used instead of sewing the buttons on?

A washer is a medal disc (generally coin-sized) with a hole in the center. 👍
