You can make "conveyor valve" using the meter valve, and connecting its output to its own reset port. Changing the flow rate doesn't even need duplicant toggling! :) Its settings actually accept decimal numbers - very handy for food rationing and heat exchangers. Keep in mind though, conveyor rails don't recombine packets like pipes do, so if you don't want your base's shipping clogged with a stream of 1kg packets you have drop-and-reload the materials. A timer-toggled sweeper, a conveyor load and dispenser within reach would work, though I prefer to have chute+sweeper above a weight plate set to >1000kg. Triggers a ~5-8 second buffer gate that enables the sweeper.

Use a weight plate automation

In the future if you make guides I would recommend not using mods that change the appearance of things, such as the insulated/regular tiles. You were talking about using metal tiles then made them out of granite, and I was confused because they don't look like regular tiles. I only noticed on a mouseover. Reference material benefits from using standards. I liked the design though, thanks!

Thanks! There's pros and cons to the True Tiles mod. Sometimes it better communicates different materials being used in different places and sometimes it doesn't. I'll try and be less ambiguous when talking about the materials in future.

Really nice build. I'd integrate the batteries into the build too. There is space on the top part on the exchanger. This will give the turbines a smidge more heat to eat that could push you over the edge to get it fully self powered. I also wonder if leaving a gap between the temp shift plates will help to create a bit of a steeper temperature gradient

Also I am a MASSIVE fan of the metered conveyor. It removed the need to to fiddle with timer. Want 10kg/s just set it to 10kg per second

I just came by a simple solution but is energy costly using liquid tepidizer and aquatuner, I put both on the same water pipe and turn both on (with controlled temperature), the liquid tepidizer hot the water while the aquatuner cool down in a steam room, I only turn the steam turbine if the temperature hits above 260ºC and I drop the phosphorite on the steam room, when the phosphorite melts I pump using a steel pump to a separete cooling room. But your build is cool too

Can you use the liquid tepidizer trick instead of an aquatunner? Also did you make this on any of your streams? I might attempt this but its easier if I have a live example of this with the usual mess ups dupes do.

If you have another means of cooling the Phosphorus down to solid debris (such as dumping the liquid into a Frozen Core) then you could use the Liquid Tepidiser trick, but it will need to be made of Steel to not overheat. The Steam Turbines will self-cool either way. Some active cooling is needed to get the Phosphorus to solidify as it won't at Steam Turbine operational range. I didn't build this exact setup on stream but I did build an earlier version which worked pretty well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6fGfWx4nLOibrc

I updated this design to include a heat exchanger along the bottom. This makes the design more efficient and makes it able to self-power itself. It was too much of a fundamental change to cover with a comment so I just re-recorded the whole thing. :D
