Thank-you; total respect! I'm replacing frets on my Taylor 314CE and WOW; your tips have increased my DIY confidence on this spectacular, 20 years old Taylor. I've just reset the neck and look forward to these new frets. You Sir show how masters maintain beautiful instruments. Thanks again! Cheers from PDX, OR USA!

Finally, a video on installing on an acoustic. There are so many that say it's for an acoustic, but the neck is not even installed yet. So no help to someone doing a refret. The filling of the sock is very clever. Was wondering how I was to support the neck once I got to the higher frets.

That was one of the best refret instructional videos I have seen - a huge thank you for posting it. I've seen others use CA glue after setting the frets and it seemed to be more forgiving if a fret doesn't seat all of the way flush on the first attempt. Is there a benefit to putting the CA glue in the slot before setting the fret? And, what kind of CA glue is it that you are using that gives you the time to get the fret set?
@HilkoGuitars3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Explained in a very simple way: CA glue cures when you take away the oxygen. So when you press the fret in (relatively fast) the glue will harden pretty fast around the tang and will stay there. Have a great day, Hilko

How much would I pay YOU for this re fret service on a 2005 Taylor 214 in USD? Is that possible?

Hiya Shane, thanks for your interest. At the moment I'm not taking on any repairs or refret jobs. I'm too busy with building custom order guitars. Best regards, Hilko
