Aww snap so basically i cant register my 140 as a 125 because what if they look up the engine number and it comes up as a 140 what would i do and ive seen tons of people all over fb market selling road legal pitbikes what are 140 but registered as a 125. How do they do that

Thanks Cobee. You would be handier if they could send one for you or your local motor factor. They sometimes will ask for ID and the tax book but if you have any trouble you will be able to order one online anyway

Yes sometimes they do change it and you need to select different options. If it’s really giving you trouble I would recommend calling the nova department of the hmrc. They are very helpful and will be able to tell you exactly what to do in cases like that

Hi Darren just subscribedto the channel and already found your videos helpful. I'm going to be purchasing pit / dirt bike in the next 3-4 weeks with a view to putting it on the road as you have. What I want to know is how did you go about getting insurance do you just give them your new reg and their system pulls up all the bikes details? Also how much was your insurance for the year please? Hi Shaun, welcome to the channel. I called bike sure for my insurance but no as I’m in Northern Ireland I had to insure my bike using the chassis number after I had completed the nova section. This way I had to talk through the whole thing and explain all the bikes details. They were very helpful. If your in England, Scotland or Wales then you can leave insurance until you get your reg and then yes they can just pull up the details. My insurance worked our at £315 for the year but they said it will be much cheaper next year. @@RGD-Audio-Repairs if your registering it as a new vehicle it’s the v55/4 or if it’s an older vehicle then, over 6 months old roughly, then use the v55/5 form for used vehicles

No I got the number plate from my local motor factors. They will send you a letter with the reg on it so you will need to give this to the motor factor to make it and they may want your licence too. Or you can just order one online too. As for the mot certificate you will only have to do this if the bike is over 4 years old but if it is under 4 years old just make sure to add in your cover letter a note saying you were in contact with your local mot centre and you have made sure your bike has all the necessary parts fitted like Speedo, horn and road legal tyres. @@dognut2001 your welcome. I find them fine for use on the road although I haven’t pushed them hard. Yes unfortunately with different mot testers will come different views on things. I would definitely recommend having a horn incase you need it to warn someone of your presence and as for tyre markings e marking is best to have although in the words of 4 of my local mot testers they say as long as it doesn’t say “not for highway use” it will be fine. Speedo is a pretty important one and it’s maybe just because I’m in Northern Ireland but my Speedo has to change between mph and kph but the XOSS unit does this easy enough

@@DarrenMcKinney1 I just ordered myself the 17tooth sprocket as well as 1st gear is useless lol, and I've got M-Part Mini Megahorn sounds like a rape alarm but should do the job (I hope), and ye my tyres have E4 on them, and I've got one that I put on but is a pain on the spokes as it doesn't fit so going to have to drill the hole out, also how much is insurance roughly? and some insurance companies apparently don't like Q plates? also I don't have a certificate of newness as its a 2009 yx140 but I've got the month and year of manufacture on my vin could I use that so it wouldn't be under a q plate?

@@dognut2001 yeah insurance is tricky on them as they aren’t really on any lists the insurance company can look up but I got my insurance for £315 at Bikesure. The horn and tyres sound good, as for the reg you may still have to reg it as q plate without the cert of newness just incase they turned it down and you had to re apply which would mean another wait but it’s up to you if you don’t want a q plate. I didn’t mind as long as I got it on the road as soon as I could. I def agree with the gearing change as it makes them more enjoyable to ride with the lower revs at cruising speed.

Hi Damon. I wouldn’t worry about the mot until you get the Nova sorted. It’s the first thing to do. The rules on it have changed slightly since Brexit unfortunately so I’m not overly familiar with the new setup but if you are ever stuck for information I find calling the Nova department in the HMRC to be very helpful if you call them. After that then you will do the v55 and the mot will be last but it will be easy enough

@@damonsteve9775 hi Damon. Yeah fun bikes won’t give you a certificate of newness and they won’t even do the nova like most importers do just because the vehicle was never intended to be on the road. What you will need from them is get them to send you an email basically getting them to say that they refuse to do a Nova as the vehicle was never intended to be on the road or something along those lines. This is what I had to send the HMRC along with my invoice from them because as along as they acknowledge the Nova they don’t actually have to do it. It’s basically just to show the HMRC there is no import tax due on the bike. The nova is the first thing to be done before anything else so once you get this done you can move onto the v55 part so don’t worry about it just yet

How can you send the v55/5 form without an MOT certificate? You cannot prove the age of your bike as m2r do not provide any certificates for their bikes. So how can you prove your bike is less than 4 years old without the certificate.

Thanks for the video I have a wpb 160 I have a certificate of newness and vat receipt but I can't do the HMRC Nova they have said because it's new stomp should of done that part. 😬. Also would I have to do this to the v55/4 form and I would like a age related plate? Any info would be great 👍🏼

Hi, your welcome. Yes I had a bit of trouble with that too. Basically you will have to contact wpb getting them to send you an email saying they won’t do a nova application as they never intended these bikes to be used on the road. Then send this on to HMRC and that should solve that problem. As you have a cert of newness and want an age related plate you will want to do the v55/4 form for new vehicles. I hope this helps

@@deadlox1849 no problem. Yea that’s the exact same as my tyres and they were fine. Unfortunately you won’t be able to apply for the mot until the nova form is sorted as they register the chassis number onto the system and that’s what you will use to apply for mot as there is no reg yet.

Yes you do need to send a copy of the mot certificate if yours is over 4 years old and needs to be mot’d and you need to send proof of name and proof of address. The licence is the best thing to send as this will count for both name and address so saves sending 2 things

Yes that would be no problem. If the bike was under 4 years old you shouldn’t even have to mot it. Just register as enduro the same as this bike and have the road legal tyres, horn and Speedo

I would maybe ring the nova section of the hmrc and ask them about that matter as I found them very helpful anytime I called them.

No you don’t need the certificate of newness Sam. They use the date of first registration for Mot and I have been in contact with the MOT centre about it and it’s fine. My bike is completely road legal. The certificate of newness is only if you want a date specific registration number. Mine is on a q plate You may be able to apply to do an mot if you are in England but here in Northern Ireland they refuse to take me for Mot until 4 years after the date of first reg as it does not need mot’d until that time

@@samcanniford341 I have an invoice from Funbikes which gives you proof that the bike is brand new and date of purchase. It’s like if a car was built in 2020 but wasn’t registered until 2021 the 4 years until mot will start from the registration date you see not the build date

Most 125 cc 50cc enduro on the street road legal are 84 cm or lower One States I have to register as Enduro. What's enduro exempt.
