My grandmother taught us to boil corn with it's silk and only peel off the cover after boil it. It will make the corn even more delicious and sweeter.

that is cool, next time i find corn with the leaves im going to try it, in london we can only get corn in ethnic shops with the leaves. Usually the corn in already cleaned cut and packed unfortunately.

You can use hybrid corn for seeds, but the result may be different from the parent corn. I think if someone is willing to try it, I don't think it will hurt to try.

This is the second video I have watched from you. Good work. I'd suggest you don't use chemical fertilizer anymore. That only kills your soil biology and you will need even more fertilizer next time. Use compost instead or compost tea. Mulching like you do it is good but better than plastic foil would be grass clippings or leafes. Hope that helps

Porque aquí el viento impide que el polen caiga de forma natural sobre los hilos de la flor hembra. No sabía que el maíz tierno se come, y los hilos de seda, tampoco sabía. No los hubiera descartado. It is fascinating how one small seed has the DNA information and instructions to come up with another of its own. Also since 3 out of 10 seeds actually germinated and let's just say that is an average across all cornfields, given that there are about 500 corn seeds per corn cob, about 150 of those seeds will germinate and create another corn! That is a return of 150 corn cobs per one cob. Amazing.

The reason why the germination rate is so low is because she dried out the seeds under direct sunlight. UV rays destroyed them!

you get more than 1 cob from a single plant on average. also the germination rate is close to 100% when using proper seeds. This one in the video is not ripe. Ripe corn seeds are very hard and look like glass.

Most ,if not all corn grown in the United States is genetically modified to prohibit growing from seed. Most of these vids outside the United.
Nice video! Thank you! Your soil seems too dry. When you take the baby plant out of pot to plant, the soil falls apart too easily. When you are germinating seeds, you can also cover the pot to keep the soil moist.

Sacas la semilla del maíz tierno por eso no te germinan deberías conseguir semilla de maíz macizo y tendrías un porcentaje del 99% de germinación. Saludos 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Las hojas de las mazorcas sirven para cocer al vapor alimento como pescado con hierbas o hacer lo que en México llamamos tamales, son deliciosos. Los hilos de seda se pueden dejar secar y son muy buenos en té para ayudar a los riñones.
