Needed to hear this! I often can't turn my lesson horse effectively but at home on my own less qualified horse, I turn him no problem.

You make riding fun learning, and fun just enjoying your horse. Thank you!!!

Such a great point! It’s easy to get stuck in analysis paralysis and then you’re not making any progress. Theory is great but experience is where we truly learn. At least for me anyways! Beautiful Mom, what a blessing to ride together!! Thanks Carson, we love your videos!!!

Great advice! I shoot competitively and sometimes lose the basics worrying about the big picture. If I let my mind relax and actually think of something else the groups get cut in half! We let our minds play tricks on us!

Love your video and commentary. There are so many trainers out there who just over explain all the Niccole components of sitting on your horse and getting it to turn. Yet, You can ask a little seven-year-old to climb on and she’s got full control over her horse. Because, she’s not thinking of anything else other than a direction.

Totally agree, just go ride your horse.

Hey Carson! I have a question. I’ve got a horse that’s been ground driven, lunged, etc. I hopped on him and he stands nice. He lends his head real good in both directions when I try to turn him but he doesn’t move. He won’t turn, go forward, go backward, etc. I hopped on him and he just stood there. Why is that? What should I do? I’ve never dealt with a horse that WONT move.

Update: I think I’ve figured it out. He isn’t stubborn or anything. He just didn’t know that he could move. I had him going really good Yesterday! :)
