This is fabulous! Thank you! Now I know why I have neck pain so high up at the base of my skull. AND I was diagnosed with POTS, a few years ago. I am betting that the symptoms of POTS are coming from the vagus nerve being pinched at the neck and the diaphragm!

What worked each time for me is to fill my mouth with water, stand on my tippy toes, and then swallow the water in one gulp while landing hard back down on my heels. Repeat a few times if needed. I hope this also helps someone.

What works for me is drinking a whole pint of warm water quickly first thing in the morning, taking a belly breath (diaphragmatic breathing), then jumping from a 1ft step, exhaling as I drop. Repeat about 12 times. I'd say don't do jumps or heel drops on a hard surface - also an indoor trampoline might work better :) Drops, regular stretches, losing weight and diaphragmatic breathing have really helped me get it under control.

I don't know of any specific remedial exercises, but post hiatal hernia care will help keep the stomach down to enable healing of any diaphragmatic tearing that leads to relapses. You only need to do it once to effectively pull the stomach down. If you notice symptoms returning (days, weeks or months later), then do it again. Usually my clients need to do the treatment 3 times, to keep stomach down as the diaphragm wall heals.

I don't have a hiatal hernia, but food does get stuck just before it reaches my stomach. Doctors haven't given me a definitive answer, but for past 20 years if I eat greasy food chased with cold tea the food gets stuck before reaching the stomach. I often had to throw up the the food then I can finish my meal with no problem. A hand full of almonds seemed to help sometimes, but not always. Recently I take a deep breath, hold it for a few seconds and exhale against my thumb while swallowing. Looks pretty ridiculous in public so I go for any privacy available. Every few years I've had doctors stretch that area between the esophagus and stomach with symptoms going away for 6 months to a year. My Dad and Granddad had the same problem. Hope this will help anyone with similar problems and have an internal medicine doctor that is good.

I’ve been suffering since around September/October with some kind of anxiety and pain in my upper abdomen/chest. I thought it was because of my cholecystectomy in July, but my recent endoscopy revealed that I have a small hiatus hernia and moderate severe gastritis. I’m wondering which of these is causing the feeling. I don’t get my biopsy results until the 19th to solve the gastritis, so in the meantime, I’ll try this for the hernia.

@chrisandfilly
@chrisandfilly 10 ай бұрын
Yes, it's a very gentle procedure, so would be fine to do daily, as often as you feel. Although, it is very effective so I find with my clients it only needs to be done 1 - 3 times to keep stomach in place for the long-term. If you're needing to do it every day for months, then there are other issues that need addressing (i.e. adrenals, nervous system, gut health). With our clients we take a holistic approach to healing, which is why our clients only need to do the treatment 1-3 times as we're addressing deeper root-causes.

I was diagnosed a hiatal Hernia after an endoscopy procedure and my doctor said the only way to fix it is thru surgery so do you think there is no need for a surgery for this?
@chrisandfilly
@chrisandfilly Жыл бұрын
I would definitely try this non-invasive treatment first. If the hiatal hernia is very big, it can make a big tear in the diaphragm wall, which can cause the stomach to pop back up. The wall can heal on its own, but may need to do regular treatment while the wall heals up.

Great video Filly! I have yet to see the stomach pull down method for the right side at the rib cage. Do you think the pull down method from the spot of the hernia down to the stomach is good as well or do you feel this method is superior and should be done exclusively? Also, I found the cranial point interesting as I have yet to hear that and my left side was definitely tender and not the right.
@chrisandfilly
@chrisandfilly Жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, thanks heaps, glad you found some value! Applying pressure on the right side helps to gently guide the stomach down and around the fingers. It's far less invasive than trying to pull the stomach down on the left side, and works a treat!! Patients hardly feel a thing, as opposed to the left-side tugging of the stomach. Ah, yes, give that left side of the cranial point some daily love until it's no longer tender. This will also keep the stomach down.

I didn't seem to test positive for the hernia but i have symptoms and thinking i might have a sliding one? Not sure but did the treatment for it you show. It took several days of doing the right side pressure on the abdomen in short episodes ...not yet 4 minutes. It felt uncomfortable and sore so i worked up to longer. Then I start feeling good and could do it longer. One particular session i felt movement in my abdomen not necessarily through the hands though. Eventually i felt like a melting of the tissue with my hands and less pressure in my stomach area. Is this unusual to take several days to work up to 4 minutes? And since i am feeling a change does that most likely mean i may have one? Or maybe i have adhesions and this helped my stomach go back into position. Thank you
@chrisandfilly
@chrisandfilly Жыл бұрын
That's amazing, well done for persevering! It can take a few goes to slide the stomach back down. As for taking a few days to work up to the 4mins, it's likely there were either painful adhesions around diaphragm area on the right side (which can take time to break down), or might've been liver/gallbladder tenderness - although that likely wouldn't have eased over the days.
