In this tutorial I will show you how to release music on spotify and other streaming platforms. we will look at how to instantly get your music on Spotify, apple music (iTunes) TikTok, Deezer and other streaming platforms so that you can start to sell your music online instantly. Uploading music to spotify etc is actually very easy. There are two main ways you can get your music on Spotify and such:
You can either get your music on Spotify and Apple music and other streaming platforms by releasing it through a label or you can release it yourself through a service such as distrokid. By releasing it yourself your music will be available on Spotify etc instantly. Uploading music to Spotify and so on can be done in just a few minutes, and in this easy step-by-step tutorial, I'll show you how to get your music on Spotify as well as the other major streaming platforms.
This is the easiest way to start earning money on your music instantly, and as a music producer, that's the ultimate goal, to start earning money on your music. Keep in mind that labels will tend to keep a lot of the royalties you earn from spiotify etc for themselves. If you upload the music to spotify, iTunes (apple music) etc yourself, you'll often be able to keep ALL your royalties yourself. So keep that in mind.
common questions I get:
How do I get my music on Spotify?
How do I get my music on apple music?
how do I get my music on TikTok?
How do I upload my music to Spotify?
how do I get my music on Beatport?
how do sell my music online?
In every case, the solution is basically the same. Services such as distrokid can help get your music on streaming services instantly, and it's easy to set up and use.

Great vid! I know it's a huge topic on its own, but what about samples from copyrighted material, like a short phrase from a movie dialogue used in a track's intro? Is that a no go these days?

I'd say there's a very small chance of getting into trouble. However, there's always the risk. If the track goes viral then the risk naturally goes up exponentially, since more people will hear it. In the breakdown of my latest track ( check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6ibqIKueJmJa7M ) I wanted to use some vocals from NASA. They are available online, free to download and use. But it was somewhat unclear if I could monetize it in a song, so I actually asked them and they said that as long as there are vocals that can be recognized then it can't be monetized.. I ended up paying a voice artist to try and replicate the exact same audio (it's about the shuttle launch) as best he could, and then I added tons of processing to give it that astronaut radio effect. In the end, it ended up sounding basically indistinguishable from the original audio, but at least now I have peace of mind, knowing I won't get into trouble. :) You've just got to make your own judgment. It's a tiny risk, and most people get away with it. But I can assure you it will be damn annoying if you have the track out, and then you suddenly get strikes on KZbin, etc because of a 4-second sample that's used in the track or something. :)

Thank you, your video was so helpful. I would like to know why would an artist choose an EP/ALBUM over just putting out Singles
@FireWalkMusic
@FireWalkMusic 3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Well, that depends on what you're going for I guess. Singles are the most common these days, but sometimes you might have produced a series of tracks that are intended to work as a whole, where they all have some kind of relationship to each other, in which case it makes more sense to release them together. :) If you look at the Star Trek movie tracks, for example, it would make sense to release those together and not individually. This is something the artist needs to determine. It takes a lot of time to make a track and if you release them one by one then you'll often get more exposure compared to releasing them all at once. So that's also something to consider. :)

It means that you should own the rights to use the samples and sounds you use in your track. For example, if you made a track using a cracked version of sylenth1 for example, and Lennar digital found out, then technically they could claim ownership of the track, and demand all the royalties. Such cases are few and far apart though, but technically it could happen. :)
@simplyfatal9113
@simplyfatal9113 3 жыл бұрын
@@FireWalkMusic how would they know whether we used sylenth or serum or which sample pack we used for kicks and snares?
@FireWalkMusic
@FireWalkMusic 3 жыл бұрын
@@simplyfatal9113 It would be hard for them to know in most cases, so usually, there's not a huge risk involved. However, there have been cases before where people have been caught. It could be that they recognize certain effects or sounds from a sample pack for example, and then they see you didn't pay for it, so you would have to come up with some reason for why you still own the rights to it (someone else bought it for you as a gift for example). I've heard people talking about some developers introducing subtle kinds of noise in the waveforms when the plugin is cracked, which is not audible but can be detected. which could potentially also lead to you getting caught. That's just a rumor though, and I can't confirm it. The most common reason why people get caught though is that they let someone see their screen, where it's obvious that the plugin is cracked. For example, people doing "in the studio" sessions or putting out a video about how a particular song was made, and so on, as well as tutorials etc. Carnage is a good example of this: www.youredm.com/2015/10/22/sylenth-threatens-to-sue-carnage-after-using-cracked-version-of-software-in-808-tutorial/ In most cases though, you're pretty safe. Your song probably won't get any scrutiny unless it goes viral. In which case I would be slightly more worried, but even then, it might fly under the radar. :)

What if your track contains a royalty free sample?
@FireWalkMusic
@FireWalkMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Royalty free samples shouldn't pose a problem, it's the samples that's not royalty free that might become a problem. Examples of royalty free samples are samples from sample packs you've bought. You can safely use those in your track and release it. Examples of samples that's not royalty free are samples that you've sampled from somewhere else, like someone else's track for example.
@FireWalkMusic
@FireWalkMusic Жыл бұрын
@@xertifiedthicc it depends.. if you use a vocal then you'll likely be discovered. However if you sample a kick from another track or something like that, then it probably won't become a problem. Still, I recommend buying some decent sample packs to be on the safe side. :)

I can't see BeatPort in the list of stores. At DistroKid, KZbin content ID restrictions are sick. No song meets these requirements because all songs contain some samples from different libraries e.g. kick, snare, vocals etc. 🤣 Horus Music doesn't have such problems and they are from the UK so they have support during normal hours. 😁

I think different people prefer different services based on their needs. Different distributors often list different stores too as you pointed out. DistroKid now support TikTok Music as well, which has become quite popular lately. I've seen some people complain about hidden and unclarified fees that tend to drive the budget way up when it comes to hours music in the past, while other people praise it. It goes like that with all of them it seems, like tunecore, cd-baby etc. There's no one service that everyone agrees is the best. :) I recommend that people check out several distributors to see what would work best for their needs, both in terms of content and the pricing model, which differs a lot between all of them. :)
