if they gave you the same functions as premium there would be no reason to pay for premium. Since Spotify needs to make money for itself to exist its a great way to guarentee that about half of spotify users will pay for there account and make spotify monthly earnings. It's a business after all and they payout higher then youtube for artists that have a clan of monthly listeners. It's just how the business needs to go to exist.
