*BONUS TIP:* When you teach someone about what you've read, you get the opportunity to talk about it and the benefit of learning it twice 😉 You'll solidify things and remember them better by using your own words and by having to engage your recall which moves the information from your short to long term memory 💯 Have a fantastic weekend! 🌞

I was taught to NEVER write in a book. Took a long time to realize that I owned it, and it was ok. Now, my books are marked up, underlined, and have questions on the top of the page. I love going back through and reading what I wrote.

Me, too. Books were sacred. I have gotten over that, but it was tough. I still consider books sacred, but I know that writing in them isn't desecration.

I still can't. It bothers me too much when I see my book like that. My dad's books however are marked, underlined, highlighted and have tabs attached. Not to forget the signature showing it's his book.

I find that the people who are upset that I Write in my books typically don't read. It's almost like a badge or unwritten law they believe every reader shares. To me, it's a flashing beacon of, I have never read a book!

I was thinking of the number pf books I have read so far, and it seemed unsatisfying because I had ,for example, read one book for about 5 months. It was kind of dreadful thing to happen such a long time. But you have made me realize that the key is making the most out of what I am doing. I love reading books and truly appreciate your commitment. I have been reading a book named "Show your Work" for some time. The lessons I have learned recently: 1. Share what you have. For someone,it may be more essential than you dare to think. 2. Show your work. If you want to learn smth new, love what you do and make a commitment to learning in front of others. I absolutely recommend to read this great book

hope someone who hasn't learned the lesson find this video, when youtube recommended me this video I already learned the lessons by my past mistakes 😔😔😔. but it's great to seeing people who think like me.

I am an Audible book consumer and my experience after "reading" a book once, I know I missed a lot due to thinking down rabbit holes. During the second listen, I only go down NEW rabbit holes. On the third listen, I get complete comprehension. 3 listens at a minimum. This from someone who has also listened to hundreds of self help books!

This is very good advice. It's also a good illustration of why there's cognitive bias and so much polarity in politics - if we don't question what we read (and hear), we believe it more each time we hear it - regardless of its validity or usefulness.

Should you use a textmarker to highlight bits that you found interesting and if so should you do it immediately after finding an interesting point or let it shimmer a bit and maybe mark it down a day later for future review?

Wow. Glory be to God/Allah. Reminds me of how God made the Quran to be very easy to memorize. How people recite the verses of the Quran so often, every day in their prayers, and they hear the Imam recite it out loud all the time. The entire Quran is read aloud in the month of Ramadan for the whole community to listen to. Eventually, the book gets ingrained into you and it starts changing your life
