This is the best video that follows your ball flight the older videos I could never follow the flight.

Hi James, Its difficult to get a definition visual of ball flight where I do all my videos.. I do them at a particular time of the day when the Sun is not condusive to contrasting the ball asgainst the Sky ..which is annoying when I am trying to support the capability of the swings with a resulktant ball flight evidence. cheers JH

T hanks so much for showing me the "real" pivot. I am 72 years old and have played for 60 years. I have studied every teacher i could have and no one ever showed that method. I think that very well could be why I was always been straight but shorter than I wanted to be. I will work on this. Thanks so much! Please do some more videos where you discuss Snead, Hogan, and Moe.

Hi JH. I typed to follow your video about the swing project with Martin Ayer’s but couldn’t make heads or tails what he was telling you. But I love all of your older videos from six years ago talking about Moe Norman.

Hi James, I can understand the difficulty of uptake of the Martin Ayers swing process.. I have struggled with the uptake of the verbiage Marty uses .. Marty developed the swing very much from an internal personal appreciation of how 'his' body had to work to get the swing to an understanding of the body dynamics application as he saw and felt the body applying itself. I will be doing a video soon relative to 'my' understanding of how the swing applies itself .. hopefully, I can come up with a description/demonstration understanding of how the swing should apply itself for general rank-and-file golfers... and stay true to Martin's general mechanics/dynamics. cheers JH

@@1atomicgolf Ok will look forward to that video. I just watched your video last night about holding the club in the palm of your hand instead of with just the fingers and how happy you were with it. I’m going to try it out this morning at the course so hopefully it will work out for me also.

Hi Dana, I needed to get back on the practice tee.. its such a great diversionary therapy for the general problems of life that we are confronted with on occasions. Having all the time away from the practice tee has allowed me to explore lots of different avenues of swing mechanics which I think will create some good ongoing content for the practice tee videos. cheers mate.

Great to see you back on the practice tee, JH. You're always a welcome sight. Best wishes to you, to Mr. X and to the old Tank Commander. You must have been thrilled with Cam Smith's win in the Open.

Hi Tony, It was good to get back on the practice tee and crank up the old body again.. I must say the body did feel 'older' than the last time I was on the practice tee.. but hopefully another couple of sessions and it should shed that rust that has built up in the swing. It was good to have Cam Smith win the Open.. especially as I had some money on him with an Irish friend of mine that was convinced Rory was going to win and gave me odds I couldn't refuse for a wager . I think that win for Cameron will give him enormous self belief that he can now win any of the other Majors in the next year..he is now the complete golfer.. he has no weaknesses in his game. He is the best putter in the game right now.. he now holds the US Tour record for the lowest amount of putts in a round.. 18 putts..kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4LQlqeLgb-gm7s how on earth do you do that in tournament conditions. cheers JH

Hi Pat, It's good to be back on the practice tee, as I have said so many times over the years.. it's no good hitting the ball well .. if you don't actually know 'why' you are hitting the ball well... you must know what 'creates' the mechanics that produce good ball striking when it's occuring. cheers JH

Hi JH Been a while since i made a comment.We 1941 guys keep going. I am now doing your fold and hammer with what you were saying re the pivot. Works well for old guys.The extra thing I have done is to have the lead thumb at the side of the grip.Works a treat with your swing skills. Art from England
@1atomicgolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Arthur, Positioning the lead thumb to the side of the grip was one of the things that made immediate improvement in my ball striking quality of contact when I applied years back... it did the same for a lot of people I got to do it ..it just gets the lead hand working correctly for some reason. cheers JH

Hi Allan, It was good to get back on the practice tee today after such a long layoff.. the old body felt somewhat recalcitrant relative to getting it to move smoothly and balanced because of the layoff period.. but the ball flight was good enough to be able to play with a good degree of efficiency if I had to today. I should be back in the groove next time on the practice tee. cheers JH

JH Good to see you back on your practice tee When the body parts are used the correct way like you are showing us here the club will follow its plane and stay there To many try to move the club to move the body and that’s not good The 5 simple protocols used in Channel Lock is a great system to always come back to time after time to stay consistent The ball flight was very visible and that will always prove it all Welcome back
@1atomicgolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, Todays videos were just relative to conventional type golf swings.. but all of that stuff of course is relevant to the Channel Lock swing as well .. I will alternate in coming videos between CL and conventional swing types.. Actually CL is without a doubt the easiest swing to reproduce after a layoff because the ball position is an absolute know position at address.. which immediately sets the shoulders in known required position. Conventional swing types get variations because the forward of body centre ball positioning has to much of a potential variation of positioning.. which creates issues with body loading amounts.. and shoulder alignment etc..etc.. It was good to hit some balls again today.. and catchup with Mr X.. cheers mate

Hi John, At this time of the year .. at that time of the day.. the sun angle in the sky is really good for getting some ball to sky contrast which lets you actually see the ball in flight. Its really surprising how the glare of the Sun that we get in the Summertime which makes ball contrast against the sky background virtually non existent.. but this time of the year in winter the Sun brightness is so different. I hope to get on the practice tee quite a bit over the next few weeks so the ball flight should stay defined over that period. The swing felt quite alien after such a long layoff.. but the ball flight and contact was close to normal quality.. which really indicts the value of a set of baseline mechanics protocols that you can apply even when the body is conducting itself in a recalcitrant manner. cheers mate.

Hi, JH, Glad to see you coming back. One question, what is your swing tought before you strike the ball ? Cheers
@1atomicgolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Hong, The only definite thought I have coming into impact is to swing the clubhead 'in to out' at impact.. I know if I get that happening the shoulders will be slightly closed at impact.. and if that happens I can never pull or drag the shot. Having the 'in to out' thinking ensures I will always get the ball starting in one direction every shot.. no surprises. cheers JH
@hongtao29322 жыл бұрын
@@1atomicgolf Thanks a lot JH. Should I put my weight more forward and bump my hip a little bit in set up in order to have a in to out swing path easily?
@1atomicgolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi hong, If you setup with a predominance of weight into your left side you won't be able to get the club to swing into the channel as much as you need to in the backswing.. I set my weight more into my trailside at address to allow an easier move into the channel with the clubhead at the start of the backswing. To ensure an 'in to out club path in to impact.. you just need to ensure your foot stance line is closed.. and keep your lead shoulder up high and closed coming into impact.. having the lead shoulder up and closed will make it almost impossible not to swing in to out at impact. cheers JH
@williamearl16622 жыл бұрын
Good to see you again JH, those shots looked terrific, you get through the ball nicely. My problem is that I don't, I never get onto my front foot. I will take note of your protocol and see if I can improve. PS. Have you ever played around with the Jim Venetos method, keeping the weight on the front foot during the back swing? Any thoughts?
@1atomicgolf2 жыл бұрын
Hi William, I have tried the Venetos method... its to me a variation application of Stack and Tilt .. with the same inherent drawback .. that being a regular propensity for pulled shots to occur. The forward of body centre ball positioning with a lead side weight loading leaves itself vulnerable to shoulder rolling at impact.. which was the reason Stack and Tilt never gained any leverage on the World Pro Tours.. the guys that did 'try' the method.. like Aaron Baddely and Mike weir.. totally lost their playing proficiencies.. Mike weir being the biggest tragedy. 'If' you can do what Venetos advocates.. which is keep the shoulders significantly closed at impact.. you can get some reasonable ball flight.. but its very hard to keep the shoulders closed that much when hitting a ball that is positioned forward of the body centre.. The channel Lock swing has a lot of Venetos theory of application in it.. but because of the trail foot ball positioning its so much easier the keep the shoulders closed at impact. For your own problem of not getting the weight into the lead leg/hip at impact.. try starting your downswing by turning your lead knee as the first part of the downswing .. in a semi circle to target and continuing on to behind your leadside post impact. Most people don't get into the lead side because the leadside just doesn't start the downswing.. and the easiest way to start the downswing is to just turn the lead knee in that semi circle around away from the target line starting the downswing. Once that lead starts its semi circle turning just keep it going as far as it will go .. that move will get the leadside moving and the trailside following.. . Just have a few practice swings where you get to the top of the backswing and just stop the club at the top of the backswing and then just move the lead knee in that semi circle forward .. you will feel the clubhead drop down and backwards .. which is the way to get the club on the correct attack plane into impact. cheers JH

@@1atomicgolf thanks JH, I will try that, and rather than doing it while playing I will get down the range were it is easier to concentrate on a swing change. I learnt that years ago but always prefer a round to the practice tee, but making swing changes does prove difficult when trying to score well. I do remember Baddeley winning with stack n tilt but wondered why he never continued with it. Cheers
