I’m really looking forward to this tutorial series. I’m currently learning how to use Ableton for playback (being a playback tech) for live shows and I would like to incorporate my djing skills. I have done a little bit of live cue point remixing in Traktor before on a live show, so being able to add all of it would be amazing as I work with touring artists. Well done on creating this!

Just want to move my first step into live remix with keys & pads, and I found you. You are explaining everything in layman terms, which is very understandable to a noob like me. Even I am a bassist as well as a sound engineer, electronic music is simply another big world for me. I am looking forward to seeing videos about live looping, so I can perform another instruments on it.

Very excited about this series. I'm curious about your Live set project files, but as a midi-mapping connoisseur, I'd also love to dig deep into using Bomes. I know that's the secret sauce, so I understand if you don't want to share that programming work, but I would love some deeper discussion of some of the ideas and your "philosophy" that helped guide your design of the system as a whole, Bomes tips and tricks to explore, etc.
@djenferno5 жыл бұрын
Actually, I've stopped using Bomes so much since that "Higher Live Remix Tutorial" video. I used it pretty heavily when I had more need to launch loops for each performance. I also used it to control my live video camera feed (3 cameras ...each camera would show when the appropriate MIDI controller was hit). I haven't needed those for some time now. I can dig up the Bomes file on another hard drive and send it. I don't mind giving that out. The thing is, it's so specific to my own setup that I don't know if it would work for others as plug-and-play.
@just.call.me.nolan.twitch5 жыл бұрын
@@djenferno - that is a very generous offer. Big shout out for your willingness to share. Lately, I have been thinking that, with the extra buttons now available on the Maschine MK3 I could probably get by without Bomes by just being more efficient and effective in laying out a mapping for dual-software control (Traktor and Live). I've also had to work to trim the fat from my mappings - just because I can create super deep and capable mappings that utilize esoteric features within the software doesn't mean that I should map them, especially since I don't use most of those features live anyway. How has your mindset changed since that "Higher Live Remix Tutorial" and your movement away from using as many loops? Are you doing a lot more live playback of instruments and percussion elements?
