Thank you very much for the video. I tried and tired to remove mine and couldn't until I saw this. What a stupid design, what engineer thought that concealing the button was a good idea. What was wrong with the previous design that had 2 similar buttons? It was convenient, easy and fast requiring nothing special but your hands.

Then you pry up the round colored plastic cap and remove the locking mechanism so you never need a pen again

Thank you much. I have a Silverado regular cab and found that the headrest actually blocks my view whenn I turn to check my blindspot. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if someone makes a lower profile option. The headrest in my 95 chevy was lower than my 2017. I could turn and see over it easily.

Well the reason they have those headrest is for passenger/driver safety. In case of a a accident they’ll protect you from having your neck do a 90° turn backwards. I do know what you mean about the blind spot. I haven’t seen any low profile option but you could always have them folded down when you dont have anybody on board

I have a 2019 Chevy Equinox, and I’m having issues removing the rear head rests to install seat covers. There is one pinhole and one button like this video. But shoving in a paper clip into the pin hole isn’t working. Any tips? I’m not hearing a click

I don't believe that the rear headrests in my 2017 crew cab adequately protect a passenger's head from hitting the window in the event of a collision. Even when fully extended. Try it yourself: the headrests even when fully extended do not lock in the upward position, so when your head hits it will slam down. And your head will possibly hit the window. My dad's 2012 F-150 rear seats are full profile, which increases safety for the passenger at the expense of a larger blind spot.
