thanks man.. my alternator went out yesterday in my van, and I took the covers off and thought, like most vehicles, that it would just unbolt and come out the top. I looked in there after the covers were off and said...."MOTHER FUQR"!!! those a#holes engineers over at KIA are some troll'n mother fuqr's, aren't they!? you know they are sitting at their desks giggling to themselves, making troll faces while they were designing the engine bay for this stupid van. I used a extension and a socket, it was the hardest one to take off and took me about 20 minutes to get off. good luck with yours. and thanks for watching.

@Drifter5.77 жыл бұрын
Wow what a PITA. Plain to see this was all pre-assembled before the engine was put in it and is caused by poor engineering to allow it to be easily removed once in the vehicle. Usually a case of engineers not communicating with one another or asking techs in the repair field for advice. Just produce them as fast as you can and make money.

yes, did this today because pulley that sets under alternator froze up belt snapped & same job because pulley is on same bracket as alternator. the fan bolts are tough because you just cant get tools in there easily. I think its designed to pull fans out with radiator which is much easier but you lose all your coolant.

@@Iseekoutthetruth honestly, I have never seen an engine light in 170.000 miles. It has all been routine maintenance. the throttle body had a coolant leak I replaced that, but it's been a good vehicle. the engine is still clean & new looking, again because they don't use salt on the roads here. it doesn't even leak oil. I did have to change the valve cover gaskets, but that's expected with any high mileage vehicle.
