Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I have a 1999 Teal AstroVan with gray interior. My husband and I watched this video and the two you did on the spark plugs and wires a couple of times before attempting the job. We also went back and watched as we did some of the stuff. Since mine is the same color as the one you videoed, it was like we were looking in our van. Your videos made an impossible job POSSIBLE. We were stunned at how hard spark plugs on the van were to reach. My husband said in addition to the videos, he was glad he had a good sidekick like me and the two little LED work lights that stayed in place with magnets or hooks that I bought as his stocking stuffers this past Christmas. Some of those spark plugs took both of us, him underneath and me on the side to get them done. The new spark plugs and wires and the other problem we fixed have my van FINALLY running the way it should. Now to check out your videos for the other things we need to fix!

Forgot something...For the guys asking about the inverters...Put them in front of the vehicle, around the radiator area if possible but, not on the radiator or AC cooling coil...Then run the 120volt power cords to where you want them...These things generate a lot of heat, I mean a lot....Skin burn hot on tender skin...The air coming in over them, when mounted in front, helps cool them for better performance and safety...Thanks again for the this time saving video.

vehicles - that being said, always owning vehicles that need wrenching on and being too stubborn to pay for things I should be able to do myself make it necessary. Your videos are amazingly helpful, your explanations perfect and your demeanor is great. Thanks a million

I still haven't gotten mine out, one guy stated that one of the seats needs to be removed, but the flip and roll at the drivers seat might do the trick, excellent!

Scotty: Nice clear video ... thanks! The air conduit that you removed from the dog house ... where does that go from and to? I'm looking for a cargo van ... does it have that? I imagine that that is only for passenger vans for floor heat to the back?

Thanks for the video...Changing out the upstream O2 sensor and it's recommended you remove the bonnet for accessing the wire harness connection...I'm wondering though if just splicing the wire at the sensor might be easier...lol

I love my new/used van..but guy I got it from had 5 kids who apparently had frequent food fights that included slurpies and candy...just absolutely trashed the carpets beyond repair...a how to on this would be awesome..thanks I will keep watching as long as you keep posting. Your site is beyond helpful. Keep up the great work!

Nope I don't😕just remove all the seats and the floor side panels and the covers underneath the seats for the seat tracks area and then slide the carpet out the back.

@raynic1173

I suspect that the inverter was not wired in. They normally require a large diameter cable, depending on the wattage of course, but the wires are bolted down or screwed in with set screws to the back of the inverter's fittings and would be a pain in the ass to access this way and I didn't see any wires being disconnected like that, even if you slow down the video, IMHO.

Do you have any info on that inverter install? What size power wire would I need to run one of those? Would I need a larger battery?

I understand alot of people like to get rid of these vans when any problems come up involving the engine becuase they are so hard to work on. If i were to look at buying a used one, what are some things i should check under the hood before buying it to make sure i'm not getting greased?

I have 6 Astrovans and I love everyone of them. The thing about the Astrovans is parts are very easy to find and tons of shops will still fix them. So that being said you just have to be willing to work on it yourself or be willing to pay someone to work on it for you either way after vans are great work trucks/vans for the money. I've made millions I mean millions out of my Astro vans.

I just figured out a trick to help get the cowl back down between the seats. After you move the front seats back, use two strips of duct tape placed diagonally on each seat from the inside front to the outside rear of the seat to pull the front inside corners back. That will open up the space so you can get the cowl in relatively painlessly. When you drop the cowl in, remember to drop the driver's side in first so the "opening" is toward the passenger side.

120 volt a/c is very easy just buy a 300 amp power inverter from any auto parts retailer the hook up 12 volt d/c on one end the it's converted to 120 volt a/c on the other side. That is how you do it.
@cynthiaayers7696
@cynthiaayers7696 3 жыл бұрын
Better hook that inverter up to a separate battery. You don't want to kill your starter battery, they are not made for that, get a deep cycle 80 amp.? Or more if you want. Once your starter battery is full, it will switch over and charge the deep cycle battery. But you'll need to get that little system that sets up between the two batteries and your alternator. Good luck, have fun.

I drove my van just last night as I was Christmas shopping. Pulled into my parking space as usual and went inside the apartment for the night. At about 2:00am, I went out to the van to repark it and it wouldn't start. What could be the problem with this 1993 safari GMC?
