Hey Everyone,
In today's video, we're going to show you how to remove the DME in a BMW B58! The process is super simple and only takes a few minutes to remove and to reinstall. Once removed, we now offer a mail in service where you can send your DME into us for unlocking. Once your car has been unlocked, you can continue to use Bootmod3 through the OBD port as usual.
Please note, MOST F Series will NOT need this service, unless you've recently been to the dealer and they updated the software on the car.

Well this is new info for me... I was seriously thinking about buying BM3 for my 2020 540i, but if BMW will update vehicle software during an annual service (no remote software updating for 2020 G30) then it will be game over. No way I can send off my DME and be without the car. Seems customers who buy BM3 for newer cars are taking quite a risk on being able to use the software going forward without a huge potential headache, right?

My m340i has 2 batteries one trunk one under passenger cowl near windshield haven't found a easy disconnect for the 2nd battery yet

New to the supra B58 motor, I have a question regarding the bench ecu so I have 2020 launch edition when I brought the car the touch screen wasn't working and I took it to the dealer to get it fix and after it was fix and the screen working again, did they reset my ecu to stock and lock it again. Need to find out before I remove my ecu and send it out to be bench unlock and then tune. Thank you..

Helpful trick if you don’t have any microfiber towels or don’t feel like getting them fold the seats down just in case you can climb in and pull the emergency trunk release

This just unlocks your OBD connector for flashing. So every tuning software that works with your car model should work then.

only the 2020 and newer model years have them locked. as long as bmw did not perform a software update, anything older than 2019 should not require a bench unlock.

Just don’t update it. You have an action to download the update and install it into your car just like iPhones. Next time you get a notification to update, just avoid it.

You opt in for auto updates. You can select this through the dash or the connect app.
