I was wondering if the fact that the ship is made of steel, affects the magnetic compass? Thank you for another great video. Greetings from Detroit, Michigan, USA.

It does. The magnetic compass is fitted with correction bars to correct the "deviation" caused by the ship's magnetism. The ship is then swung around and a deviation table is drawn. Correction values are to be applied to the magnetic reading to get the true magnetic readings.
