Now if it's been on there for years and I am selling the kegerator it won't turn that 1/4 turn. Do I use WD40?

You certainly can use WD40 to lubricate the coupler for removal...sounds like it will be better for the new owner of the kegerator to purchase a new coupler as the O-Rings will need to be replaced after it's removed from the keg and it's usually cheaper to purchase a new coupler than fix the existing.
